I wonder if this is the origin of this act?
I opened the door for my wife for the same reason and she was like "ohh you are so sweet". She walked forward to the front door of the house as I was locking up and was just standing there. When I got up the path I saw her there, "Did you forget the key?" I said. She replied, "Noooooo are you going to open the door?"
"What, are your arms broken?" I said sarcastically.
When asked why I opened the car door for her all night then. Then I told her " I didn't want you F'ing up the doors". Her: "Figures", throws up her hands, goes inside and made us dinner.
Who says chivalry is dead!?

It's easy for us to remember since we drive the cars all of the time. But, to someone who doesn't ride in the car as much, it might be easy to forget how light the doors are.

Just place a thog two sizes smaller than your wifes size on the floor next to the passenger seat. Once she finds them she will only slam the door one more time.

i must be the luckiest guy in this thread, my g/f knows to close the door very lightly, matter of fact about 95% it doesn't close all of the way and i have to tell her to do it harder!

We (girlfriend & I) came home from our usual Friday night romp (dancing) and she gets out of the car before I can get to her side. (I usually help her get out). Well she gets out and places her purse and her dancing shoes (in a velvet bag) on the vette's rear hatch as she reachs back in for her jacket. Real sweet and pleasant like I say, "Please don't place anything on my car." She gives me in a horrified look and yanks the items of the car and mumbles something along the line of, "You think it's made of gold! It was just my leather purse and a velvet bag. It didn't do any harm. If it is that precious to you I'd rather not ride in it." A 10 yr relationship and it has come down to this.
I was NOT mad at her for placing her purse and shoe bag on the car. I knew it was harmles. Never-the-less...... Anyway, what pissed me off was her comments afterwards. You'd think she'd get it by now. WEMEN!!!!!!
Let's see....... Girlfriend or the car....... Awwww! I'll give her ONE MORE CHANCE!!! (In the meantime I'll use the PT Cruiser...)

My wife slammed the door on my Z so hard one time that the window lowered itself.
Wife slams everything, not just the car door. House doors, cabinet doors, windows, etc... And, God forbid it doesn't close the first time she slams it cause the next is worse. Many times I have walked up to our front door and gently pushed it shut and you hear the click. You can slam it as much as you want and it won't latch. Great thread!
