Guys, my torch red ZO6 has 76K miles and the front of it is in EXCELLENT shape for the mileage, however I might want it to be perfect someday. If you've had paintwork done, were you happy you did it? Did the paint match PERFECT? That's what I'm mostly worried about..
I've got a coupe, It came with the transparent top. I bought a painted top that was in excellent shape but the wrong color. I had it painted and you couldn't tell that it didn't come with the car.
Do your homework in your area and look at cars the shop has done......some colors are harder to match than others but I have a Mag Red coupe which is tough to match but I put a high rise hood on it and had it done after talking to other Vette owners and got a perfect match. With today's equipment they can do some great work.

My car started out like this...
Then I added alot of body mods and decided I wanted to be different (that is nothing new btw) so I picked a new color and it came out like this...
And I know you said "color match" but I am leading up to that.
After all that work my husband bought me a Caravaggio hood (I still can't thank you enough Tony---it looks amazing) so it was added after everything else was done on the car and obviously sprayed to match my color...It now looks like this...
Now you did say that your car is torch red so...My best friend had his nose repainted (damn rock chips) and his car is torch red (hope you don't mind me using one of your pics buddy ) and I can't tell the difference..
I'm not sure where you live but these cars were done in 2 different states so we did not use the same people. If you do your homework you should be able to find a good shop. Our guy here in PA also did my husbands vert--which is Mag Red and he had to do touch ups for rock chips and my husband added Apsis splash guards (there is a post about them somewhere here---just look under MR WaynesWorld) and he matched everything perfectly on his car--including a replacement hood..
Good luck. They are out there you just have to dig a little to make sure they are that good. If you are near PA or SD let MR.WaynesWorld or FactoryRaceCar know and they might be able to hook you up with one of our guys
You get what you pay for!! Don't go cheap, you will be pissed in the long run. sun fading is going to be your biggest problem,I am putting the Tiger shark on this week on a TR 99 FRC,the only good thing is mine only has 18,000 on it and it has been inside.I will post pics as soon as I get it back. I MISS MY VETT.

I worked in a body shop for 17 years and saw it all I guess. Been out of the business since 2000. in my time doing paint work I'd say if the shop is even half competant you will be fine. I just had my old employers paint my entire Millenium Yellow coupe. They had a tough time matching the color, but after some tinting and sprayout test panels got it very close. It didn't really matter in my case with an overall paint job but I wanted it to be as close as possible. I'm very pleased. The car looks new again. Good luck and let the shop know your concerns before hand. Kevin.

A good body shop should be able to make the paint match. Could be tricky if the paint is faded, but check around and ask to see some examples of their work.

i have had things repainted and it never matches perfectly. You really have to have a lot more of the car painted to match due to existing paint fade or wear.
Paint always seems to chip easier after being repainted also
It is amazing that someone can determine the level of effort that went in to repainting my car (the same color) from one photo . Thanks for your expertise and support. That is what this forum is all about, man.

Well it is pretty easy to see how it was painted.
Every part that is going to be painted should have been removed from your car. Don't get your feelings hurt over comments.
