I am just curious to know if a Chevy dealer will take a modded C5 in on a trade? I am in a jam and this seems like to easiest way to solve my problem. I know I will get less for it but I am not sure if they will even take it.
Sure they'll take it. They will take anything for the right price. Just don't expect to get much of anything for it and especially not much for the modifications.
With some of the modifications, they probably won't even know it has been changed.
Probably depends on your mods. Ive looked at a lightly modded '01 Z06 and was going to trade my lightly modded '02 Coupe, at the time, for it. I didnt do it but I have seen modded Vettes at dealerships before.

I got a sweet deal on my first C5, a modded '99 Coupe. The dealer took it on a trade, and I was at the right place at the time, because they just wanted to move it.
So, yeah they takt it, but don't expect much. They'll probably use the mods as a reason to give you even less!
It sounds like you are trading it to get into something less expensive. If that is the case, I would look at Corvette specialty dealers. You will not get what you have in it, but you may get more then a dealers trade-in.
The story is I just changed jobs and I no longer have a company vehicle to drive anymore and I really need a daily driver. Its not even that I need to get into something cheaper I just wanna get it done easier. I realize I will never get what I put into it at all.
Why not put your stock seats back in, raise it back to stock ride height, and daily drive it? You could even put the factory catback on if it's too loud for you to daily drive. Cmon, it's even an automatic, haha.
It's a car. It's got 54,000 miles on it. It's got insurance. Get over it and enjoy the damn thing. I'd rather have a scratched and dinged Corvette than no Corvette at all.

I've been daily driving my corvette since it was brand new. Now it's highly modified and I still use it as a daily driver. Enjoy the car for what it is supposed to be for...driving!
I guess because you said you were in a jam, I just assumed it was financial, probably a bad assumption on my part.
I not trying to be harsh, but I agree witht the privious post to just drive it.. Mine is not a daily driver, but if I had to start using daily, I would. I would watch were I parked it if possible, but if it gets a ding or two, better that then no vette at all.
A vette as a daily driver in a warm climate is okay. When you get areas like NY and considerable snow I would not do it! That is probably the main issue here, not door dings and such!
Take it to the dealer, see what they'll give you for it, then come back and put it in the FS section for about 3K more. I bet that at that price it will be an appealing sale to a forum member/lurker and will probably sell fast. That way you will get more for it than the dealer would give and it will go to a good home. And in the meantime, drive it as a DD... a few weeks or months aren't going to ruin it.
Remember, dealers always take advantage of the fact that buyers want to do something quick and easy. That opens the door to big profits for them. Take a little bit of time and sell it on your own terms and you'll do much better.

I didn't notice that and the OP never mentioned weather as a concern. In that case, I take back what I said. I would not daily drive a vette in the snow. That'd be asking for a lot more than just a door ding.
I've been buying DDs to compliment my Corvettes since 1979. My first was a 68 Cougar, then a 75 Monte Carlo, etc, etc. My current one is an 89 Mazda MX6 GT Turbo that cost me $4000 in 1997.
My advice: Get a $3-5000 car to drive to work and keep your C5. Your insurance will go down if you spread the mileage between the two cars and most of the wear and tear will be on the DD.

See above. I would suggest getting the car as near back to stock as possible and selling the mods on the Parts board, etc.
Come to think of it, swap out the headers and sell them too.
