My wife is actually opposite...especially with her car. She details the daylights out of her car. She has a complete set of detail brushes for the interior (ones for the vents, dash, etc) and demanded that I get different colors of microfibre towels for the glass, wheels, underhood, and paint (then wrote the use on each one in marker across the corner). I had to look all over the area to find her a 12v dust buster to keep in her car.
I got one of the canvas totes from Mid America and set her up a "car show" kit. It contains (per her instructions):
6 "paint" towels (lt blue),
3 "wheel" towels (dk blue),
2 "underhood" towels (yellow),
2 "glass" towels (orange).
Plus, Meguires detail spray, Zaino detail spray, Invisible Glass, bug/tar remover, tube of 3M rubbing compound, tube of Flitz, leather conditioner, 4 spring clips with suction cups (for holding signs on windows), sign describing her car (year, features, etc), Sharpie marker, ink pens, and a tube of suntan lotion (SPF 30).
The first thing we do after getting back from a show is replenish the dirty towels, and any other supplies used that day.

It's funny, but she didn't really care about detailing a car for a car show until I got her her very own Corvette. Now it has to be perfect, or she won't rest til it is.

Let's not forget the key to healthy marriage is communication, So be brave and tell her like it is... It's ok if your wife is the one wears pant's in the house but you need to let her know that you're the one who has the control to the Zipper.

If I really don't want to wash and dry the wifes car she will voluntee to help get me off my azz. It usually works, especially if I'm not washing the vette that day. If I am washing mine, I willl knock her's out at the same time. Since I'm getting wet, sweaty and on a roll, might as well go all the way.

My wife wouldn't know where to start. She would probably go over the entire car with windex and paper towel or baby wipes.

Maybe this is "spouse abuse" but my wife and I have a deal:
I keep cars clean (wash/wax) & maintained (oil, trans, tires etc)
I keep yard mowed

I don't do laundry
I don't clean house.

Seems to work well except for the cars stay cleaner than the house....

Guess I'm lucky cause my S/O is a clean freak. She'll go on one of her "missions" and detail all our vehicles one after another. Excellent results. She only draws the line at wax/polish. She leaves that to me.

This was the case until she got her new MB now she is cleaning it after every drive. I gave her her own kit(Bucket chamy, detail the works) And I still dont do Laundry clean or cook..

And she does do my wheels when we are at a show together, she actually thinks she does a better job than me( maybe she does)

Man come on, she shares your love for the vette and obviously you too. Show her how to wash it properly and thank her for her help. She will understand.

My wife, aka "toolwench", is great with the water hose during the rinse phase. She's challenged with anything much more than that.

My wife's idea of washing the car is running her 07 Suburban thru the automated wash things.... at least it's the touchless one!

But I will break down and wash hers every once in a while however she seems to think that as a green light to find a mudhole...it never fails!

Laura does not have to tell me to wash her car, though she has asked a time or two when I will do it , hers is black so its harder to keep clean. But when its parked at the mall most of the time that makes it harder to clean. I think the last time she washed a car was in 1985, maybe 84.My daughter use to keep her car sparking clean but I have noticed lately she has stopped, I did a detail on it this weekend so hopefully that Will make her wash it more! But that being said , I do enjoy washing and really enjoy detailing. Keep our black Suburban pretty clean also , in fact I probably wash it more than it gets driven.
