My wife jokingly ask if I was having a mid life crisis when I bought corvette number one and said I am glad you bought a corvette instead of running around with some young blonde. When I bought corvette number two she said whatever makes you happy.

I started my mid life crisis at 8 yrs old when my dad got his first vette. He first got a Silver 77 (in 79), then a Silver 81 (in 83). Then he got a new Silver 88 vert (in 88). It worked out perfect for me since I just turned 16 in 88. I sure had fun with that and it helped with the ladies in High school too. The dads looking out the window with me driving away with there daughters were not that happy though....
I got a new 04 Z06 at 32, and people joke about my mid life crisis, I just tell them I started my mid life crisis at 8yrs old
I hope it is not a mid-life crisis. I bought mine @ 50 y.o. and I sure as hell don't want to live to be 100.
If it must be labeled as a "mid-life" something, I prefer to call it something like a "mid-life arrival". I have finally arrived at a point where I can comfortably afford a few of the "finer things in life". The Vette is just one of them. All of the nay-sayers are either jealous or ignorant. My guess is that they are too cheap/broke to own one so they talk trash about ours.
Sometimes I have a bit of fun and tell people that I am past my midlife and probably wont make it to 80 because of the fire fighting exposures, and the stress from both managing people and stupid comments directed my way.

Crisis? Well, I guess "C" does apply since I laugh with joy every time I drive my Vette.
I hear the same thing. The only difference is I am 60 years old. My reply is that I hope it is a "mid-life" issue. The truth is that I have loved corvettes since I was a teenager. But like many other corvette owners I had to wait to get the kids raised before I could even think of owning one. When the C5 came out I said that was the one. At 58 years old I bought an 02 coupe. We love it. I am still working, but every chance we get we take it out for a cruise.
I have been told that I look ten years younger when I am behind the wheel. It sure makes me feel younger.
Enjoy your vette. Pay no attention to what folks have to say about it.
I could have written this, except I bought an '02 Roadster at 58. This is not a crisis but a choice and an opportunity of a lifetime, and life it too short.
I bouhgt mine at 43 and when people say that I reply that I'm at a point that I can afford it since my kids college and home is paid for. That usually shuts 'em up.
I had an old girlfriend mention "mid-life crisis" when I bought my Vette. I then mentioned the list of cars & motorcycles I've owned since my teens. She paused and then decided I've been in mid-life crisis since I was sixteen.
If owning a fast, fun vehicle is the measure.... then I have to agree with her and hope I never get better........!!
