Well crap. I'm 50 and I'd didn't know I was in a crisis when I bought the C5. I thought I bought it 'cause the kids are all grown now and I have wanted another ever since I sold my first one in '75.
Yep,,just about right for me,,I'm 61 still riding my sport bike too (been riding close to 40 years) Someday I MIGHT grow up,,,My wife's still patiently waiting for it!!
When asked about if it's a midlife crisis thing, I ask what makes them ask such a question????
They're just trying to make you uncomfortable, turn the tables on 'em.
I hear the same thing. The only difference is I am 60 years old. My reply is that I hope it is a "mid-life" issue. The truth is that I have loved corvettes since I was a teenager. But like many other corvette owners I had to wait to get the kids raised before I could even think of owning one. When the C5 came out I said that was the one. At 58 years old I bought an 02 coupe. We love it. I am still working, but every chance we get we take it out for a cruise.
I have been told that I look ten years younger when I am behind the wheel. It sure makes me feel younger.
Enjoy your vette. Pay no attention to what folks have to say about it.
My story is pretty much identical. Loved Corvettes ever since my Dad bought a 62' when I was 14.(I learned to drive in that car, and I was hooked!!) Bought my 03' when I was 55, and have loved every minute of it! Don't worry about what other people say. Most likely they're wishing THEY were driving it!
People that say stuff like that are also the ones who drive some akward looking POS and say they are just trying to save the environment. I give them a earfull as I blast by them leaving potent fumes for them to choke on.
Since I've had Corvettes most of my adult life I must have had an early crisis. When I was younger I was always told once you get married you'll sell your toys. Not so-you just keep adding to the toy chest.
Forget the mid life crisis. I'm 52 and bald so if it fits? I have always been a car guy. When the new C6's came out and I bumbed into a 2002 Z06 with 7800 miles I couldn't pass it up. I have never been one to worry about what other people think anyhow.
The one rule is the wife says no 20 year old women in the passange seat.
Actually, the average life span of an American male is 76 so he is technically past "mid life" which would be 38. At least that is how I tried to explain it to the wife type, but she said I had to wait until I was 50! I did and smile on my drive to hell (work) every morning!!
Well, I bought my car the year I turned 60(2 years ago). It was the realization of a long time dream. As far as a mid-life issue, I'm a little pasted that although I still hear it on occassion. My first Vette was a 66 roadster and after 13 yrs of ownership(1981-1994), I had to sell. Now I'm living the dream with my C5 and smile ever time see it or think about it.
44 here and Ive heard the same thing a few times, I have always wated this car its fast sexy low and clean, I just couldnt afford it when I was younger, now I can simple as that.

Uh oh I guess I blew that one i didnt know that rule was in effect.......
Now the hot 20 somthings that always want me to take them out to lunch in the Vette well that maybe a bit of a mid life crises cause damit I cant say no to them!! But somehow I dont really care I just go with it.
The only person who said I was having a mid-life crisis and meant it was a woman co-worker. She's about six years older than me. When she hit 50 she had a face-lift, boob-job, tummy-tuck, butt-lift and started wearing braces on her teeth. Oh yeah, she buys Miss Claroll in the 55 gallon drum. After she was healed up she divorced her husband and went trolling for a rich husband. Now I ask you, who's calling the kettel black? I think most people that say such things are having their own life crisis and wish they could satisfy it with something as simple as buying a Corvette.
