Default Offer?

I am looking at a EB 02 z06 with 11k Miles, car has chrome rims, borla stingers, intake, shifter, and some other misc interior items. He is asking 32K and he is the original owner. Car looks to be in excellent condition, with a little wear on the driers seat.

Private party BB value if around 28K in excellent condition.. What should i offer him? I was thinking 27K cash then going from there..

Offer 26k, if he doesn't take it walk away. There are too many car for sale right now to pay a premium. It's a buyers market.

Yea some people are asking outrageous numbers for their Z's. I think around 27 is fair for that car.

I would not have accepted your offer either for my stock 2002 with 11k miles. An offer of cash does not sweeten the deal. Funds are funds.

The market in CA is a little higher than other places. You can fly where ever you find a good deal, buy a car, and drive it home; or you can have it shipped to you. How ever you do it, being in CA will cost you a little more. It depends on your situation. Are you willing to take a few days off, fly somewhere and pay the gas and possibly hotel money to get a car?

If you're really lucky you'll find a good deal close to home.

Some people make me laugh. The KBB value for a private party sale is only 24900 in excellent condition.

KBB was designed as an auto industry tool, and as such, doesn't serve the private seller, except to mislead them of their car's value. Corvette prices are in the toilet, but their actual worth is somewhat intangible.

Ya I have been looking on autotrader and craigslist, and there are so many deals out there it is crazy. I am not going to pay some crazy price for a z06 that just going to drop even more in value soon to come.

But its funny when you go to a dealer they say they dont go by the KBB value because its high. I think people gotta realize that a 6 year old car is going to loose quite a bit of its value.

People say it's a buyer's market but not all sellers are desperate. That is still alot of car for $28K...
It is hard to use the KBB on Corvettes, they aren't your ordinary used cars.

If you are worried about depreciation buy a vette 72 and older (or a C4 that has hit rock bottom). Unfortunately all late model cars depreciate. It drives all of us crazy seeing Z's cheaper than what was paid for them.

Not worried about depreciation, its inevitable. I was just trying to say if that same car a year from now will be a couple grand cheaper. And i will stick with my search for a Z, i only have a 26-27K budget cause taxes and other fees are going to rape me..

I see what you mean but don't let the depreciation make you wait until next year to get your Z when cars are cheaper. You only live once, make the most out of it. My advice is to not watch the sale ads once you have bought one or it will drive you crazy!
