Well, it really all depends on the use of the car. If the thing is a showcase for someone's business or technology -- and it creates a good impression, attention and business, sure, why not? If the stickers are some private attempt to brag or stand out, I think it's pretty weak -- you're not adding anything to the beauty or function of the car.
At the end of the day, though, the stickers on non-commercial vehicles are just people's way of calling attention to themselves and trying to fit into whatever social circle they wish to be a part of. Think of your teenager wearing his/her Abacrombie & Fitch sweatshirt, Old Navy Tee, or whatever. Or you wearing your PING or Callaway Golf hat. The mark of a truly successful brand is one that gets its customers to proudly advertise their association and loyalty. Nothing really wrong with that.
I love the idiots that drive around with the license plate surround of the dealership they bought the car from. If they aren't paying you a monthly fee to advertise their business, then take that shiat off! They are taking advantage of you.
Around here, they've practically turned that into a status symbol. One dealership in particular has done very well with this: Rusnak. People buy their plate surrounds and put em on cars that werent bought from there.
