Default Map Light Question?

The manual map light controls on the rear view mirror stop functioning on my C5. The only way they turn on now is using the dimmer control button on the dashboard (the one that turns on all the other interior lights ?? Has this happened to anyone ever?

Strange it works on the dimmer but not the switches. Its worth checking the fuses first.

There are two lighting functions on the mirror:

The floods are the dim lights on the bottom of the mirror that are on all the time. The floods are fed by the brown wire The fuse is #21, a 10A on the footwell panel. It should be OK but make sure.

I'm guessing you mean the map lights and they are fed by an orange wire. The vanity lights on the visors operate on a parallel circuit but use the same fuse. Both the left and right vanity lights on each visor are also fed by orange wires. The fuses that protect the maplight circuit are Relay 37 (and I'm not sure what its function is - smarter guys may know) and Fuse 2 (Monitored Load), also in the footwell. If both map lights and both vanity lights are dead I'd say its the fuse or relay. If only one is dead it may be wiring or a ground. The circuit grounds to G202.
