red is cool. I suggest to anyone using LEDs to paint the inner cove piece the same color as the LEDs, or silver metallic to get the best glow effect. I"m using Blue LEDs with Silver metallic.

I will be showing how to do the install on my mom's 98 vert with Red LEDs and silver metallic paint. These will also serve as the instructions for the kit.

Default Upgrade update 2

Bit the bullet, pulled the trigger, etc. on a set of Halos from Corvettes from Houston. Hope to try them out next weekend. After that, I'll try to do the Radioflyer mod. I have an idea for the 3rd brake assembly, but I'll wait to show that one. I need to leave something for a surprise!

Default Led lights

Where are you buying the lights?
How are you hooking them up?
Can you list the costs?

Thanks,

the mod is not too bad. once you figure out the first one, the rest are a piece of cake...but they are time consuming.

i had a hard time figuring it out until i found this great pic by the junkman, which helped me out tremendously.

as long as your end results look like this, you'll be good.

Thanks,
There a variety of CF vendors selling the Halo taillights. I actually got mine from Corvettes of Houston through flea-bay for $239 (seemed a little cheaper, maybe someone else can give better deals? ). The Halos should be a direct swap (plug & play). If hyper flash does (rarely) occur, there are options to fix it. See my earlier post in this thread on the modded wiring:

Ask Jon (koldng) and George (radioflyer) for a price if you want them to do the mod for you.

Default update

Alright, I have the halos in now. I'm going to pull them out and perform the Radioflyer mod. It took me a while to find enough resistors, cause the local Radioshack wouldn't restock them!

Anyway, for anyone debating the change to halos, here's what they look like beside a stock light:
Parking only

Brake only

I'm looking at ordering the LEDs for the DRLs, as well as new clear/black lenses, and rear markers this week. I'll post pics of the differences when I'm done.

Default Update 2

Halos are modded and installed. I replaced the reverse lights with white - 18 LED bulbs and the rear markers w/ red - 5 LED cluster/matrix bulbs. Also, I tried out the switchbacks and the 22 LED towers in the front markers. I love this look, especially unlocking the car at night and having the approach lights on! I noticed something odd though, I expected the DRLs to be white when the approach lights come on, instead they're amber. Hmm...

Changing out the DRLs was a little easier than I thought it was going to be. I couldn't see the housing well enough to notice if it had melted a hole in it yet, but the bulb socket itself looked cooked!
I did find the longer 22 LED front marker bulbs just touch the lens. Has anyone had any problems with this?

I'm still waiting to find the corner lenses I want. I had a set like JDMvette's on order but the company said their last pair was damaged in shipping, and just refunded my money.

And now, with the swbks and the SS ultra headlights, the stock fogs are just too yellow. What color temp are the swbks supposed to be? I'm thinking I want to do HID fogs, but want the color to be close to the swbks. And what is the closest to a complete kit for these? I've seen some promotions for plug & play, some saying you need to add relays for the higher watts, and some saying the wiring needs to be upgraded, etc.

Many to all that have added their input to this thread.

Next up will be the license plate lights, footwell, trunk, LED strips under the doors, and even the underhood light! If I could catch that LED monkey that ran away with my wallet , I'd beat him with my belt!
