Default Stereo Help Please

Hello

I just bought a 01 Vette, it came with a Jenson tuner with the flip up screen, Alpine MRPF450 140 x 4 amplifier and a JL Audio 1000/1 amplifier.

The problem is it sounds like crap, not much of Bass.

I understand the Bose stock speakers have a built in amp, it appears they have disconnected these and are running through the two amps.

Not sure why the two amps, but I am not sure what to do other than take it in to an audio shop.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thank you

Those amps are the big brothers of my equipment (I have the MRP F250 and JL 500/1)

the MRP F450 is a 4 channel amp for the midrange drivers. The OEM subs in the doors are meant to be driven off the OEM amps. I don't think they'll work with an aftermarket amp. My suggestion would be to replace ALL your speakers with aftermarket speakers. (a popular and inexpensive option is coaxials in the rear and components in the front) The swap is an Easy DIY

THe JL1000/1 Is an insanely powerful Sub amp. Your vette should have an aftermarket subwoofer (a big one too) If not, go get yourself something big like a 12w6 or w7. If you want insanely powerful bass, check out the 13w6/w7 series.

Check out the audio section under the "general corvette" catagory of the forum. It's full of helpful (and crazy) guys who specialize in corvette audio:

I'm no audio expert but I know when I fitted my AVIC system I needed a GM CRV1 (now the GM CRV2) to adapt the Bose speakers. It was for exactly that reason that you lose bass without the adaptor. It has a potentiometer on there to set up the levels.

I don't think any of the Forum vendors sell these things so I'm safe to post up a link. If anyone does I'll happily link to their site:

I'm surprised with such a set up whoever fitted it didn't go with some after market speakers.
