Agreed 100%. Maybe a Camry or Accord will suit your tastes better.
I know this is a Corvette Forum but if you have to ask what car to buy maybe a Corvette is not something you should be driving.

You should never swerve to avoid missing an animal. What if you lose control and end up hitting a person? Brake hard but DO NOT leave your lane unless the animal is so large that it could end up injuring you.
