Key chains hanging from ignition.
Do any of you let your key chains hang from your key while it's in the ignition switch? I have a quick release so I just leave the one key in and the other 15 or so keys go straight into my pocket, I've read that the extra weight and banging around isn't good for the tumbler.
Just curious.
Edit: Not to mention all that clanging around is downright annoying.
Hey DeeGee what's happening, hope your weekend is going well.

I do but its a major PITA. Never thought of fitting a QRF. Great idea.
Not sure on the wear on the tumbler but my plastic trim ring behind the fascia has cracked. I reckon it may have been the banging that caused it.

I had a bunch of keys hanging on my keychain - the Security light would come on when I was driving. I noticed that the weight of the other keys we're causing a bad contact with the ignintion etc, after doing what you did (using one key and leaving the rest in my pocket) the security light hasn't come on. Long story short - keep your keys in the keychain to a minimum

My wife got yelled at once for having 3 sets of car keys and fobs and house and office keys and a few more on her ring. This was from a woman clerk at an Olds dealer. She has never had an issue though.

I just have the the key, FOB, and a 50th anniversary emblem hanging from mine. I have one of those colored rubber FOB thingys over my FOB that I purchased from southerncarparts, aside from looking cool it eliminates noise when making contact with the plastic.

Key and fob only.
Both my wife and I have to carry so many other keys that both Corvettes have their own separate key rings.

Hi themonk -
I only have the ignition key and my fob on all of my car's.
I have a separate keychain for my other keys.
I do have one issue with the key - when I put the seat in my "aggressive driving" position, I often catch the fob between my knee and the dash.
best regards -

Yep - with the rubber casing around the fob from Southern Car Parts.
