Nothing like making a short trip to somewhere and having the front end look like you were short track racing! At least they haven't been as bad so far this fall as they were back in the spring. I've got a two hundred mile round trip to the Florida State game Saturday so I can pretty much tell you what I'll be doing on Sunday when I get home, lol.
That's the bad thing with these pests is the acid in their bodies will eat right through your paint if you don't get them cleaned off.

Yep, bra and mirror gloves is the only way to travel during luv-bug season. Only problem I have is cleaning the windshield. I usually put a good coat of armor-all, yep armor all , on my bra and gloves that seems to help keep them from sticking too much.
Living in the Southwestern corner of Louisiana we get them twice a year spring and Fall..Our fall time of year is really bad and since being bookmarked by 2 hurricanes the past 2 weeks they've really been stirred up..Although with cooler morning and less humid days the past few days they haved layed down somewhat..
I've found taking a couple of bounce fabric sheets and wetting down the nose gets them off practically like magic..

Yep, hurricanes Gustav & Ike have stirred those bastards up BIG TYME!! Never tried Bounce to remove them but if U don't have a bra for the nose of your baby spraying it down w/a cooking spray like Pam ( lightly ) seems to work well when it comes time to remove them. Can't help ya w/the windshield, though, 'cause all our wipers do is smear the guts around!!

Actually they are made of Quickcrete and sulfuric acid. They will eat the paint down to the metal/fiberglass if you leave them on too long. I spay my Jeep with Pam and hose them off every so often. The Vette gets hand washed. I have a bra but the little buggers still stick to the windshield, roof line, and mirrors.
Over here they aren't bad.......yet. Last year was exceptionally bad.
Yep it's September... Love Bug season again. Also occurs in May-June too. Last a couple weeks.
Best protection is lots of polish. Even still if they are left on there long, they can be very difficult to remove. A lot of times laying a wet towel on their remains will loosen them. One episode I ended up having to use my PC-DA buffer and Zaino ZPC to remove the marks.
This stuff or spray n wash, shout and some others work well.I am almost a cracker going to my 50th HS reunion tommorow in Ocala, Fla. so I know how to treat these pests. The secret is the enzymes which remove blood ect. We drove through the center of the State one time and had to stop out in the sticks to clean the windshield because it was completly covered. Wax will help but make sure to wash car asap and spray with the laundry stain removers. Good idea to rewax, I just use the eagle one spray to touch up.

you gotta love colorado!! just another thing that doesnt effect us here in the mile high city...
December 21, 2006 · Denver is trapped beneath a blanket of snow for a second day. The airport is closed, streets are empty and long stretches of highway are impassable.
Grew up in Florida, joined USAF in 1960 and they sent me to Nebraska where they had a lot of cold white looking powder which turned to slop when it melted. They put salt on it which made the car really nasty and rusted it. I saw some of the stuff in Denver one time also. I came back to Florida after the service. However,we did have a little wind here about 3 years ago.

A good coat of wax helps but if you leave them on the car and they dry, the acid in their guts eats thru the wax, clear coat, and ultimately the paint. One easy way to get them off is to set up a cheap lawn sprinkler that hooks to a hose and when you get home, let the affected area get thoroughly soaked (about 30-60 min's). They'll then come off easily but you CAN NOT WAIT. This needs to be done as soon as you stop otherwise you're screwed. I have a bra that helps but they even messed up the finish on it too.
Love bugs are REALLY bad here in texas. I'm convinced they're the most fragile f**kers on earth. I had one explode on the TOP of my hood....the TOP!!!!
Oh, and getting them off your car: goo-gone in a squirt/spray bottle followed by a pressure washer.
