Stuck my nose out trying to cross into oncoming traffic. Couldn't see the oncoming car until the *bump* No damage to their car and i didn't see a reason to throw insurance into the picture do to the minor damage and the fact that I was barely able to get insurance as it is.
Here's the damage:
The Headlight lens will def need to be replaced but most of the bumper looks easily repairable except for the random hole (that was no where near the point of impact)
Local body shop wants to replace the entire bumper cover, but I think that's unnessicary since the repairs are out-of-pocket. Since Hurricane Ike, I've been out of work for a week and don't exactly have a lot of cash. I'm considering doing the repairs myself and just getting them to paint, but i'm not sure what to use to fix the hole and cracks.
Look on the for sale forum and get a good used one. The black paint will be simple to match. You're a handy guy, you could even paint the used replacement youself. Sand, Paint, Wetsand, buff, install and presto. Good as new.
Check the "For Sale" section, you might find a front bumper pretty cheap. Maybe someone reading this post has one they will sell or trade you for the LED mod you do.
Last used one I bought was $200 and it was already the right color, a quick buff out and 30 minutes to put on-looks great. Sprayed the original one when I did the MCM hood so I have a spare too.
There is a place that sells take-off corvette parts - you should be able to find an acceptable replacement fascia with factory paint for a reasonable price.
That bumper is NOT able to be repaired... I have experience with this.
Even if you didn't have splits/holes.... just heavily spider webbed paint, I've seen where the hairline cracks come back within a year.... and with holes/splits??? Forget about it!!

I suppose it makes me a little happy because the bumper already had spidering in the paint. Now i'm off to find a new bumper.
