Now, I know I do not drive a Civic, so I shouldn't be putting eBay parts on my car (and I wont be) but I was just curious to know what the difference is between the above $190 intake and the nearly identical ones here:
so, is it better to throw on one of these fleebay intakes, or put a K&N drop-in-filter, and perhaps modify the OEM intake cover (by putting air holes in it) or even using a ZO6 intake?
Unfortunately, by the time you find out whether the air filter does a good job or not is when it is too late, and irrepairable damage is already done to your engine. If you can't find long-term test results for THAT filter, don't buy it. A no-name company will be hard to contact, let alone recoupe money from, should its filter ruin your engine.
It's kinda like using a no-name brand of oil or oil filter, just because it is inexpensive - no thanks!
The previous owner had Corvette Concepts of Sarasota fit their intake to my 02 6 speed. It has a K&N filter with a red housing which goes well with the Torch Red paint, seems fine. Anyone else got one of these?
Going only by the pics, without seeing the actual finished product, I would say that the only difference would be the filters&price.
I know several guys that have the BOMZ intake, and are very happy with it, no problems.
Of course, you're going to have the "vararam, blackwing, halltech, etc" guys chime in. But, basically, if you are only looking for "BLING" factor then I would say go cheap on the intake and put your real money into some K&N filters to go on it.

I bought one of those "Cheap" intakes for my Grand Prix a while ago. The main difference in those that I could tell is the material to make the ducting. You want cheap, you get cheap materials. Pretty flimsy stuff. I took it off and threw it in the garbage.
I just cleaned and re-oiled mine!! Works perfect!! I have to say that this filter really held on to some dirt!!! Now its all nice and blue. Ready to go!!!
I have a Volant Dual Cone Intake on my 04 CE. I like it. Looks impressive. But I don't know how much it actually adds to performance on my otherwise stock car. Might make a bigger difference if I had headers, a chip, and reworked heads.

Get yourself a vararam for $300 or less and be done with it. Might take you bit of effort to install but hard to beat the bang for the buck. If you have a bit more cash, the Callaway Honker is the way to go. These intakes draw air from outside the engine compartment which is what you want.
thanks for the info.. but im wondering simply if a dual cone is better or a K&N drop in. i already know about all the other intakes like vararam and what not.
