Ok so i went with my dad (2kbluevette) to get a haircut and then go to the auto parts store to get a new horn relay. First thing, we walk in there and the guy starts yapping in Spanish to us cause he over heard us. Anyways he asks us the model of the car...2000...Chevy...Corvette. He goes to Chevrolet and he can't find it so he highlights the closest thing (to him), a Camaro. I'm like no no, its a Corvette. Oh so since he can't find it in there he goes to another GM company. It just so happens it the only GM company that make NO cars, GMC. So i go in to Chevrolet and point out where it is thinking "this guy works in a auto store, pfft yea right" LoL. Here it comes funniest part. He asks "what type of Corvette is it" so were like its a targa coupe. Then he corrects us LoL asking no no is it a standard coupe or Z28. My father and I bust out laughing at our selves to save the stupidity of this guy. All in all it was worth it because it gave us one of the biggest laughs on the ride home. I might also add that we came up with new car models.
1. Prius Turbo
2. Convertible Prius
3. Dodge Neon Targa
lol this is
LMFAO you get the point
...Seriously does anyone find it too hard to understand. CORVETTE AND CAMARO ARE DIFFERENT. The only thing they probably have in common is that Chevy makes them and the both start with a "C". MAN!!!

It amazes me that places like auto zone are still in business because of stuff like this. My parents used to run an Auto parts store here and we used the books. There is a ton more information in there. These computerized places seem like if they can't find it in the computer, it doesn't exist. We would go through pictures to match things and go to pretty great lengths to find what the customer was looking for.
He's only human.... We all make mistakes. Not everyone cares about Corvettes like all of us here on the Forum. I'll agree that having that guy working in an auto parts store is probably not the best idea.
I think you're in the right to make fun of the guy ONLY if you can name every make and model, every trim level, every option combo, etc for every car sold in the US for the last 30 or so years. Face it -- I bet he knows a lot more about Corollas, Focuses, Civics, etc. because that's probably what they see a lot more of. Sorry, but for you to expect him to know everything about your personal ride is a bit arrogant. Like an earlier poster said, at least he's working and trying. Maybe he's new. you never know. Would it have killed you to kindly correct him and help him learn something? Sheesh.

First thing I would have done is leave - don't think I would want any parts from a parts store that can't tell a Corvette from a Camaro. Hope you got the right stuff.

OK, rant off.
Actually these computerized places have quite accurate and easy to navigate systems. You can find pretty much anything in there if you A: have a customer who knows what the car is with some other pertinent information, and B: have half a clue what the part is called and what to look for. Sadly, a lot of the people working said stores lack B, and a LOT of the people driving on the roads lack A.

I agree with both sides here. He doesn't need to know the exact trims for every models but anyone working at a parts store should know that a Corvette is a different car then a Camaro. It's their business to know at least to look at the model specific parts ordering pages and forms.
