No, you will not need a tune. The difference is marginal as 3318c5 stated.
Doug, are you talking tuning difference or performance difference? I know there's a million threads on the Vararam, but was wondering if you were talking about a straight Blackwing or the Blackwing with the "Icebox"? I have a Blackwing, without the "Icebox" but with foglight cutouts, and was wondering whether a retune would benefit me if I switched to a Vararam? Would I tend to go lean on the upper end? Please see my Profile for mods. Thanks!

I currently have a ram air vortex box on my 98, my question is if I switch to a blackwing or blackwing style would I have to get the car re-tuned???
As was mentioned, unless you get the icebox, open up the fog light panels, or do my CAI mod to the Blackwing, you will lose performance by switching from what you now have.
The Vortex is a true CAI, wheras a stock Blackwing is not. A "tune" will add HP more significantly when it is done the first time; after an intake change, a retune may help, but to a smaller extent in most incidences.
I believe the vortex is causing a irritating whistle from the air vaccum so I thought a change may cure it without much power loss. If anyone knows how to fix the whistle, I would rather keep the vortex...

With your modifications I would not think that you would need a tune with a change in any good after market systems or notice any increase in performance with the exception of the Vararam. I have seen a couple of data logs that show a slightly lean condition at speed that was attributed to the Vararam. I do not have any specifics at hand but will try to dig them up.
Breathless Performance Products...they manufacture the Vortex. As they offer Corvette Forum members a 10% discount, I believe they are a forum sponsor. Here's a link. http://www.breathlessperformance.com/

Just be sure that you close up any holes you cut in your shroud and the car will adjust. If you have a hole in your shroud the extra air will cause your car to hesitate on decel. Just went through this problem with changing from a Halltech bottom sucker to a Blackwing. Runs great since I bolted a piece of ABS over the cut out.
