My friend has a Z with the TT setup. His is modded with blowoff valves, a boost controller, big exhaust, alcohol injection and an aluminim flywheel.

It makes all sorts of cool noises. It's easily as fast as my Vette, maybe faster. I like it, but there is no way I'd trade cars. He says it is hard to drive because it is either on or off the power. Once you go all in and the turbos kick in it loses traction.

The gas pedal on the Vette gives you a full range of usable power and torque. IMO, it's much more fun to drive. It doesn't make all the cool blow off valve sounds, though.

I'll send him a link to this thread. Maybe he'll join up and contribute. Maybe we can convince him to get a Corvette too!!

You come to a Corvette site to ask us to talk you out of buying a Vette. Yea, right. Buy the Vette - you'll love it.

Your pic is kinda small, but it looks like you have a 1990 NA Z? We had a '90 TT (where my username comes from) and while they are excellent cars, there is no comparison to a C5. The Z32 was created as competition to the C4, which is did quite well against. The C5 is a different story. We got rid of our Z in 2004 as it was 14 years old and starting to have issues. I'd be surprised if yours was still 100% reliable. Getting into a 2002+ C5 will be like being in a brand new car.

Don't worry, you've come to the right place. We're all pushing you in the right direction.

That is my recommendation!

Those are good points too. The modded imports need HUGE turbos to have gods of power due to have low displacement engines, so they are very incovenient to drive around unless you are always on boost, which if you are on the road that is rarely the case. The Corvette has alot of power all through the rev range whenever you need it, not just above 4500rpm.

Yeah man, you shouldn't get something like this at all. I wouldn't do it, if I were you. I mean you may end up with the car of your dreams or something.

yes sir your absolutely right but to your surprise its my dd and its been that way for almost a year now rain or shine. and all its asked me for is a ps hose, gas, and oil changes but right now its asking me for a steering rack lol.
really guys my z has given me lots of smiles and still continues to and i havent even opened her up all the way yet, since contrary to popular belief towards kids my age, i try not to beat on her and only occasionally take her above 3k rpms. the reason im torn is because she was my first car and i learned to drive stick in her and im so attached to her now its rediculous. so i really dont want to sell her but the vette just keeps calling me and i cant get it out of my head. needless to say i am very torn

You said it. My friend has a Z and he wishes he had my car, and I have no desire to have his. Buy the Vette, you will not be dissapointed.

I still have my first "cool" car from high schol ('92 AWD Turbo DSM). I haven't sold it because I have a lot of blood, sweat, and tears in it and it's only worth a few grand at the most. I don't know how much a '90 NA Z goes for nowadays, but it can't be too much. Maybe you should just wait until you can afford to have both cars?

true but right now its a buyers market and the thought of an increased likelyhood of getting a deal on one is just making it harder.

Go drive some clean C5s... they sell themselves. I have 2 very good buddies, one had a highly modified 300Z and the other has a 600+ awhp 3000gt that won top honors at last years 3si national gathering. Both say they'd get a C5 if they could do it over again.

They're the complete package... after helping them turn wrenches on their cars I truly love the engineering that went into these cars.

Well, I guess I'm going to be different, I've got 2 C5's, a '98 coupe and a '04 coupe and they are nice cars. I also own a 1990 300ZX 2+2 with only 13,000 miles on it. It sits in the garage right beside the '04 coupe and I don't think I'd part with it for the love of money. It handles as well as the vette (doesn't have the power of course) and is a blast to drive. Not knocking the vette, but the little 300ZX is a heck of a ride.

Yes and for the same reason you won't get much for your Z, either. This economic slump isn't going away any time soon... this time next year C5s will be even cheaper. Of course you may not be able to wait a whole year!

i expected to get flamed because of my age and get discouraged from buying one for x reason but now you guys have made it even harder.
There's plenty of young people on the forum (myself included) and that number will only go up as C5s become more affordable. The only people that get flamed are people that are disrespectful or are trolling.

Good luck!
