After saving parts all summer, I started working on the first of several winter projects: Replacing my black interior with a black/oak one. I like that color combo, and since my Vette is a Z06, which never came with this option, I'll have something a bit unusual when I'm done!
October 17, 2008:
Removed most passenger-side components and got some of the new oak-colored products put in.
Before:
A picture of my pile of parts: (Some are stored elsewhere)
Some pics of my interior, minutes before getting removed:
"In Progress" Photos:
First, I removed the passenger seat and started pulling out the carpeting on that side.
Next, I took off the door sill trim pieces.
Next, the floorboard carpeting came out:
After that, I took out the center console and radio bezel, along with the two boots:
And then the door panel came off...
...and by that point I had sufficiently filled the other half of my garage with parts!
At last, I started putting some of the new interior pieces in:
And that's where I left off... I'll update again when I get back at it!
P.S. If anybody knows that that little black **** of carpet is, under the glove box, on that last picture... let me know. I want to get whatever piece that is, in oak.

Reason: ADDED MORE PICS! POST 29 OR SO!
Modding is one of the few positives during the winter months for those in the snow belt. It looks like you have quite a project on your hands, well done.
Shadeshift, I got my oak/tan parts from another CF member, rcs128. They arrived in excellent shape, and at a fair price. rcs128 is very easy to deal with and is a stand-up gentleman!
THe only difficulty, which appeared late last night, was the glove box. I didn't realize that my Z06 has a passenger airbag switch; whereas the new tan glove box came from a car that does not. I have no place to affix that module now, so I'm hunting for another glove box (from a newer model vette) and will sell off this one after I find it.
I also had an issue removing the seat. My seat was stuck, and would not move foward to allow access to the rear two bolts. With a little patience, a flashlight and a screwdriver, I snuck under the seat from the front and found the release tabs and got it moved. It took about 30 minutes.
I encountered another delay halfway through when my camera finally gave up the ghost, so I took a couple hours to shop for and buy a new one.

Looks good. Thought maybe you were going to put dynamat or some kind of sound deadener/insulation before the reinstall. Great color combo. keep us updated.

I thought about it, but since I'm going from a stock Z06 interior to a coupe interior, I should get some improvement anyway, since the Z06 carpeting was very thin and lightweight by comparison. The new carpet seems heavy, dense and rubbery. I guess they gave the Z06 a lighter carpet to assist in weight savings. While I won't end up as quiet as a coupe with Dynamat laid down, I should be quieter than where I was. We'll see in the springtime!
Lately I've been thinking my all black interior was looking...well all black. Engine mods for me this winter but maybe some color is in order next year. Have fun.

It's part of the panel under the glove box. I have one in oak as I went the opposite way of you (oak to black).
$40 bucks shipped to you, if you want it. Let me know and I'll get you some pictures.

I don't know what the piece is called, but I've seen it in Mid America catalog for sale with carpeting. Don't know if you can buy it separately but yu might call.
The project looks good. I'm about to change the front carpeting in my Z. Good Winter-time projects.
Be sure and post the finished interior.
