Some said this wouldn't last but just over 3k miles and several car washes they still look like the day I painted them. Little tricky placing the decal on and then painting Semi Flat Black and then pulling off the decals. Trace the decals with razor blade before pulling off decals. Some said I should have painted the inside but that is impossible because the inside is diamond cut.
I blasted the hoodliner with a hose and all the grime came off vey easily actually. I coated the embossed area of the logo with Rustoleum Bar-B-Que flat black paint (because I had it handy actually) this seemed to take forever to get the fibers good and satutrated. For the colors I used Paint Pens from Wal-Mart...
I had to replace all the fastners (still missing in the pic) that were above the exhaust as they just fell apart, get a hood seal to keep it clean... two years and it still looks great!
I like this battery cover. Where did you get it? As far as paint goes, I think most of you have seen my threads on how to paint your FRC's. My "cheap" mod is the painted C-5 emblem on the chrome intake cover. It was the original trunk emblem. I just pryed out the inserts, painted the emblem, put magnetic tape on the back side & "TA-DA".........$2 for magnetic tape at Wally world..........
There are some good ideas and nice craftsmanship in here, Keep them coming!
p.s. i found a link to a "how to" for the homelink but it's on a different corvette forum so i don't think the Moderators will let me post it. I'll p.m. whoever wants the link though.
I followed the Homelink instructions similar to those outlined here.
You can buy the modules online for ~$30. I went to a junkyard and found a suitable visor for a donor. Just take your time, and be sure to test functionality before stitching it up. I had to reverse the wire connections from the directions that I used. Good luck.
I just remembered to post a pic, and even though the second one is a camera phone pic, you get the idea. Oh, we got snow overnight, and I spend the night at a friends house, so my poor car is dirty.
you can see them on this pic. And this one was a really up close one; and we got snowed, so the car is a bit dirty
I bought some vinyl off fleabay and covered my back up lights, break lights and rear side markers. Can't remember exactly but couldn't have spent more than $30 (shipped to Canada).
Very nice Rear Jacking Board!!! I'll be making one of those cause I'm always struggling with a plain board back there!!
OK here's another cheap trick that makes a big impact, expecially if your inner wheel drums are starting to show their mileage, sorry for the dust;
Wire Wheeled and sanded the inner drums to remove all the corrosion,flaking and tar ect.. Then painted it with Flat Black paint. The pics really don't do it justice as the spokes just seem to "pop" better. This is one of those Mods that a Car person goes "Nice.... " and the Transport people (people that use cars for transport only and couldn't care less about washing it) never notice.
