Default Kenne bell build........

Well I finally pulled the trigger on a KB 2.6 twin screw. Previously I had been the big cam, heads, header, underdrive pulley route and managed to achieve approx. 426 rwhp with a car that the wife hated to drive and really was not alot of fun for me either. I removed all the aftermarket parts except my 3.73 rear and Vigilante 3600 stall and the fun of my vette returned. ....until driving home from work a C6 Z06 pulled up next to me at a light and smoked me when I attempted to keep up. So how can I have near stock driveability and still keep up???
So I went and priced a new C6 Z06 even at employee pricing 78,000. That is a 1300.00 dollars a month car payment........no way so the only answer was a supercharger!!!!!! I bought it from Ronnie on the forum and one week later it arrived.......

Default Why DID I FLYCUT??????

In my childish joy of thoughts of endless horsepower and C6Z06 revenge a problem surfaced. Remember the big cam days well I had to flycut my pistons. The ring lands on stock pistons are not the best for boosting but flycut stock pistons was a disaster waiting to happen. Here is a side by side view of my piston next to a forged unit.

Default To build it myself or not ??????

So the engine is out and next is the question build it myself or let the experts do it. After numerous discussions with Phil Thomas we decided that despite how cheap I am , that me building a motor capable of 820 hp would not be best. If you know Phil he has the 1800 hp mustang powered by an LS7. He states that tolerances in these LS motors is unforgiving pay the expert do it right once and then pound it without worry. He has done the other and it always cost him in the end. Dude ....Phil is the real deal and if he won't do it than I am clearly out of my league. So it is off to VA Speed .......the expert

A trip from Delaware across the Cheasapeake Bay Bridge tunnel 4 hours there and 4 hours back

Default Va speed

Well I arrive at VA SPEED. Shawn Miller is the owner and master engine builer. Holy crap I could be this guy's father. His reputation is flawless and he can do it all. He speaks softly, laughs freely and really doesn't seem to mind my ignorance. In the parking lot are 3 C5. He likes vettes but not the owners...ha ha

Default THE TRIP NOT SO BAD 300,000 miles

As I cross the Cheasapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel my 1996 Mercury Village turns 300,000 miles. Is this a man that needs his head checked?????? Drive the worn out van with the corvette motor in the back to improve the performance of the vette???? I am a RETARD!!!

Just a small step up. That thing is going to be sick. Best of luck on the build and looks like you chose the right place to take it to.

Default Boost a Pump

Tonight we installed the boost a pump. This increases the power supply to the stock in tank fuel pump to increase fuel pressure needed for the 60# injectors. It has to be wired into the under hood fuse panel. It required cutting a gray wire from the underside of the fuse panel and splicing and soldering in between the cut gray wire the 2 power wires for the BAP. It is essential that the fused red wire is attached to the gray wire coming from the fuse panel and the unfused red wire get attached to the line closest to the engine compartment. One ground wire to frame . One RF cable that runs into the cockpit to control the fuel boost. And one pressure activated switch that is hooked to a vacum line from the supercharger.

Here it is installed sounds involved but really straight foward. Directions were great. PS. soldering wires is the only way to go and srink wrap makes for a professional water tight finish . You must know how to do it for this install

So the boost a pump has 5 wires coming from it------and they are now installed

Hey Brian! So you decided to pick up a Kenne Bell after all, huh? I had a feeling you were going to pick that one up from Ronnie.

Lookin' good so far! Can't wait to see it when it's done. We'll have to compare our setups sometime. I've got a ways to go though...haven't even installed that catback yet!

Lemme know if you need an extra hand with anything. Looks like you've got a few extra hands already though.
