Radar detector recommendations
Well, it didn't take long, but I got my first ticket in the Vette a few weeks ago. Anyone have any recommendations on radar detectors? I really don't want to spend $400+ right now, so if you know of any less expensive models, please let me know...
Also - where do you recommend purchasing it from? I'd prefer to go in to a store so I can compare, but if you know of any online stores, I'm open to that as well.

ESCORT, ESCORT, ESCORT. Not sure how big PA is with red light cameras and speed cameras, if they are, spend the extra $$ and get the newest one, the 9500xi. Otherwise get the 8500, I have had that one for over a yr now and it has saved me countless times.
Buy direct from escort.

I heard the new passport (with the gps/memory thingy) is good.
However, I've had a few and Valentine seems to work now. Also, their customer service is tops. If you get it, I'm sure someone here will gladly hardwire it to the car for you.

How about this, try slowing down and following the posted speed limits

Thanks Chuck. I know I have a bit of a "speed issue" - always have. I'm trying to slow down.
I was clocked doing 84 in a 65 on the PA turnpike. Got 4 points, which I'm fighting since it was my first "offense" in a very long time.
Any lawyers out there want to "defend" me???

It's more like you leach off of other people's radar detectors
My Valentine saved your azz several times.

The top line detectors all seem to perform well & there will be boosters for each brand. Most important factor that I've found though is PAY ATTENTION TO THE DARN THING! Got nailed last year....detector went off & instead of getting on the middle pedal, I start looking around wondering where the signal is coming from & BAM.....he's got me. Luckily found a local town attorney (Tuxedo, NY) to bang it down from 25 over to 9 over..... And I know, here come the flames! But if I wanted to always drive the posted limit I'd drive a Hundai
