Have you considered an extended cab pickup? It will haul people, groceries, golf clubs, dogs, yard tools and a whole bunch of other stuff that you would never put in a Vette. Some will even give decent mileage. Good luck on the search.

Both the Cobalt SS and the HHR SS use basically the same chassis and drivetrain. The front brakes on both are Brembos that were designed specifically for these cars. In the SS form with the 260HP Supercharged engine, they haul ***! The chassis was developed and fine tuned at the Nurinburgring, just like the ZR1, and the CTS-V. So not only is the car quick, it handles pretty damn good too!
Personally - I like the sedan version of the Cobalt SS over the coupe and the HHR - which to me is nothing more than a rip-off of the PT Cruiser.
But - if I had to buy a DD, and gas mileage was a consideration, along with utility - I'd get a 2009 Malibu. I just helped my daughter get one - she got the 4cyl with the 6L80E trans (just like the CTS). It's a beautiful car, lots of standard features and gets 22/33 mpg. Nice quiet ride, and surprisingly gets out of it's own way even with the 4cyl. It has gotten great write-ups from all the car mags and is most definitely competition for the Camry and Accord.

She got the Black Granite Metallic - and it is a gorgeous color....lot's of metal flake in black.....it's a color right up your alley! I tried to talk her out of it, but she wanted that color!
The Malibu is really a nice car. I don't know if this is a positive testimony or not, but it seems like every taxi in Vegas is a Malibu! I noticed that when we were at SEMA last week.
Taxis and police cars are among the most abused cars on the planet, so these Malibus must be pretty tough.
lol guys thanks for the responses but it makes me question if some of you can read lol

My nextdoor neighbors (fireman) wife has a black Malibu...He only cleans it about once a week....and it looks like it
Wifey had a black ZR2 Blazer before she bought the Monte SS...As a DD black is a B*TCH...I have a hard enough time keeping the black N-CROWD clean.....My black GMC Z-71 was my DD for 10 years....Never black again for a DD
