I just took a trip to philly from scranton/w\Wilkes-Barre (about 120 miles) average MPG was 30.5 I was shocked. This was the first time I have taken the vette on a road trip, all prior driving has been local. this was a very plasant surprise. Only problem was the criuse did'nt work, I guess I check the fuse first.
It really cheeses me to see people getting fantastic mileage like 30+. I would settle for 28. My '04 Coupe with 3.15 rear end @ 70 MPH gets about 25 tops. And this is with non-aggressive driving & 92 octane.
Yeah that is about what my Z06 gets on the highway... if I can keep it at highway speeds
I average 22mpg combined in my 02Z.
Nobody believes me when I tell them. They seen me driving the Vette instead of the truck when gas was $4 a gallon and were all confused asking "Wow, I bet that thing guzzles the gas" and I'm like nope. Gas AND insurance are cheaper on the Z06 than the Z71.
From: Norman Oklahoma - The Only State in the Union with no Blue Counties!
Norman, OK to Denton, TX into a 25 mph head wind: 29.4 On the way home later that day with the tailwind, 33.3 right at 300 miles RT and burned 10.2 gallons on the refill
On a 1400 mile trip to/from Corvettes @ Carlisle, I got almost 30 in combined highway and some local street driving. Drove 3-5 over the speed limits on cruise control with AC running and RPM ran around 1500-1600. Better MPG than on both the Maxima and the SL500.
Here's some numbers I collected on my 2001 A4 3.15 Coupe
60 MPH 30.6 MPG W/O AC
70 MPH 28 MPG W/O AC
70 MPH 27.6 MPG W AC
70 MPH 29 MPG W/O AC
all above on premium
70 MPH 25 MPG on plus W AC
All here in mostly flat Oklahoma and Kansas.
Some of those may be on E10, no 100% gasoline, we didn't know here in OK if they were sneaking in E10 until a few months ago when they made it a law to tell us about the E10. It has about 96% of the energy of 100% gas so you loose 4% or so. Now that I know where to get 100% gas, I only run her on that...
Save the wave...
