Try the website "thedigitaloasis.com". They handle both new and factory refurbished GPS units. I bought a Garmin Streetpilot 550 for my son. It was factory refurbished, looked and works like brand new. It was a great deal.

Reason: change
If you want to get up early and deal with the crowds, Wally world has an early bird special on black Friday for a Garmin 200 for $97.00. Best Buy and Circuit City also have deals that day. Good luck!
I picked up a TomTom One 3rd Edition from Amazon for $80 bucks. It is a refub, but I could not pass it up. They have new batteries and new screens.
It works beautifully. Works great in the Vette and I don’t even have to mount it on the windshield. I just place it in front of the shifter and it works great.
I even “hacked” mine to show the Corvette logo when I turn it on.
I am partial to TomTom as I used it on my Windows Mobile phone for years.
My fiancé loved it so much she bought one for herself, her brother, and her aunt.
For $80 bucks you can’t go wrong. You also get a leather case for free on check out.
I have the Garmin nuvi 255w, which has text to speech, tells you street names to turn and has 4.3" screen. It lists for $299 but is usually on sale somewhere. I got mine on QVC for $199 and free shipping. Really works great and saved me many miles showing quicker ways to get places I already knew.

I have the Garman Nuvi 660 and 260W. I would recommend Garmin. Like several have suggested, I would also recommend you get a widescreen and make sure it has text to speech. Text to speech tells you the name of the street to turn on not just to turn in 1/2 mile.

GPS units are amazing!
That sounds pretty much like the features that I'm looking for. There are so many choices that it can make your head spin!
It's not really a hack. I just grabbed a Vette logo and sized it to match the TomTom boot logo.
It's a BMP file. When you plug in a TomTom (Garmin too?) it gets a drive letter just like a memory stick or hard drive.
I can't remember the name of the file, but if you view the folder on the TomTom and set it to thumbnail view, you will see it.
Just overwrite that file with the one you created.
If you can hang, I can post it here for you. I've already modified it with the correct dimensions.
EDIT: I forgot about this hack. You can change the boring little arrow to be a sports car, truck, etc. The unit has a bunch of built in cars to chose from.
But, you can create your own indicator such as your Vette. I haven't had a chance to do it, but this thread has revived my interest.

Yep you did it now. hahaha I found that site last night. My TomTom now has a new splashscreen, and 3 new voices. Never knew you could do it. Thanks for the tip. Having trouble getting a Vette instead of the arrow but I'm working on it.

Coolnes.
Let us know how the Vette/arrow works out. If you're already at it, make a red one.
Just came from best buy.guy said black friday they will have a sale on them ,so im waiting.............leaning towards the garman over tom tom..........
I'm thinking about getting a GPS unit. I'd like to stay under $200 if possible, but want to make sure that I'm not wasting my money. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good one?
You can buy a reman Garmin for under $100 now with warranty

Got my Garmin Nuvi 200w for $116 Refurb from Circuit City about 30 days ago. Love it! Nice and portable, fits easily in any pocket.
I'm wanting open source code for voice to change from such a pleasing voice saying "recalculating".....
to "hey you dum SOB, I told you to turn your arz back there and you friking didn't, so now, I'ze got to re-figure. So, listen up fool - next time when I say turn, turn - got it!
Man, you guys aren't very good shoppers. They have Garmin 760's all over Ebay for $239. I know that's more than the $200 budget, but that's one heck of a deal. The 760 not only has text to speech, but also bluetooth so you can answer your cell phone hands free thru it. I believe it plays mp3's and displays pictures too. Just let one for me please!
