I'm thinking about getting a GPS unit. I'd like to stay under $200 if possible, but want to make sure that I'm not wasting my money. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good one?
Check December 2008 Consumers Reports..........They report on a number of different priced units from $150 suggested retail up to $1,000, and all but one or two of the top rated units were either Garman or Tom/Tom.
Academy Sporting Goods is selling the Garmin 750 for $199 thru Wednesday. It's usually 499. Heck of a deal, I couldn't believe the price. I snagged one yesterday...
Garmin here too. Get the best one you can afford. That's a great deal on the Nuvi 750 mentioned above. There's a lot of great features built into that unit.
Tom Tom are very popular in Europe, but still don't match Garmin over here.
I got a garmin nuvi 350 and love it. I would think there are all kinds of deals out there right now, especially this weekend.
I have this one for about a year and I love it. Walmart Online is running a sale and it priced just under $149.00. Good luck with what ever one you decide on.

My old Magellen Roadmate 700 broke down after years and I replaced it with the Tom Tom.
The navigation is late or wrong on many occasions here in the DFW area. Wish I had the Magellen back
Update your TomTom. Easy to do and reccomended to be done every so often to sync with the satellites. Mine will sometimes show me 50 yards from an intersection I'm already sitting at. I know then to hook it to the net for an update and I'm back on track. When I first bought it many new roads weren't there and after the first update they appeared.
I'm still looking for the GPS that has the sexy voice of Cameron, the winsome terminator in the Sarah Connor Chronicles.... help me find that one, and that's the one to get!
