I put mine right under the rear view mirror or just to the left of it. I route the power wire up over the mirror mount then through the "oh $h17!" handle to keep it far away from me. I don't have a power outlet in front of the shifter anymore because it turned into a switchpanel, but the power cable length is perfect to go to the one under the center console, lid closes and lets the wire out, it goes under the brake lever.
