I actually find myself laughing at all the Z06 C6's around town here (they are thick out here) - all of them driving 30-40mph - for most of these owners all it gets them is bragging rights about all the HP they have and can/will never use. I saw an older lady the other day here in town driving a new Lingenfelter C6 - I followed her for a few miles - never got above 30MPH - pretty fender badge though!
I dunno about making sweeping generalizations like that. I know a gal with an '04 Commemorative Ed Z06. She doesn't move around town or on the highway. I followed her once on the highway and we were getting passed by everyone! But holy cow, get her on an autocross course and she can make that car scoot.
For all you know, that gal you saw with the Lingenfelter has a set of drag slicks in the garage at home and tears it up on weekends at the track.
All i'm saying is that i don't understand why if someone has a fast car they're expected to haul *** all the time on the street.
There's a gal here in our Club that won her autocross this year. Drives a C6 Z06. She is quite capable of driving her Z06 "near the edge" and is a better driver then I am.
Just to clear it up a little... my comment wasn't directed at you personally at all. In fact, I hadn't even read your post until after I made mine. It just seems like whenever somebody starts comparing ANY Corvettes (or any other car for that matter) there are about a dozen posts about cars with $20k worth of aftermarket that the owners are comparing to a stock car on the other side of the coin. Based solely on the fact that their highly modded car is faster, they claim it is a better car. You used it as a small piece of an overall comparison. I see nothing at all wrong with that and it is certainly a valid point.
No worries, I understand. I know that basically any car with $20k in performance mods will be faster than most cars. Thats not a fair analysis or comparison. But if your main concern would be hp then you can always mod your engine and usually still be under the cost of a new C6. Stock for stock I wish my C5 came with a LS3 though!

I could have had either a C5 or a C6.
If the C6 had been cheaper I still would have gone with the C5.
I feel the C5 is a nicer design with alot sexier curves then the C6, and as odd as it may sound, I prefer the bland all black interior in the C5 because it allows ( in my opinion ) more effective results when modding, because face it, we all want something unique in our cars that improves them so anything you add to black is an improvement.
I would love a C6 as a daily driver, but for something special it's a C5!

Last year I attended a 4 day Bondurant GP driving course in Phoenix. Literally for the next week weeks, I drove like a grandmother. Even my gf told me to drive faster! I was getting her impatient. There is something about driving really fast during the weekend and by monday you just want to roll back and chill.
The C6 is the better car in all the technical areas (power/powertrain, suspension, attention to detail in build quality, etc.). It is exactly what you would expect the car to be with ~8 years of additional development time: a highly refined version of the C5.
The C5, on the other hand, is still 90% of the car a C6 is, and IMO, is far better looking -- a near timeless design.
Thus, I'm of the view that the "which is better" arguments boil down to which is better *for you* -- i.e., it's all a matter of personal preferences and priorities. A classic case of "better" is in the eye of the beholder.

Won't trade the '02 for a c6... but will eventually buy a c6, and soon I hope. The price is right now.
Having owned both the last year of the C5, and an '07 Coupe ( both LMB BTW ) I would have to share my opinion, that the C6 is a much better and refined ride .
Didn't much care for the new headlights when the C6 was introduced, but now think they add an exotic look the the front of the Vette.

Personally, I have many friends who went from the C5 to the C6 --- first "issues" I heard about:
1. Cracked CV Boot.
2. Gears exploded (loose bolt later found in pumpkin)
3. Clutch return spring broke (twice)
So, better? Maybe not be an exact way to say one way or the other.
As far as style goes, I know C5 owners love our design --- I even know one C6 owner who's going back to the C5 because of seat comfort. Who have thought?
FWIW, I just can't get used to those front fenders. It's never been a question of cost.
I lol everytime someone says the c6 is ugly when 90% of its looks are based off the c5
I guess for some guys its like a ugly girl with a fine *** body. She looks hot from some angles but just dont look at her face(even though she's 90% fine!)
While I do like the C5, went with the C6 when looking for my first vette. Once the first pics/specs came out of the new gen I was hooked. I for one LOVE the tech, the keyless ignition, doors that lock/unlock when I approach or leave the car. There's alot of things that I like about the C6. Any while the early run cars did have some teething problems (C5 also had issues during it's run) mine has been flawless for 23K miles so far....it's been super reliable.
To me, even before I owned a C5, the body lines of the C5, particuarly the FRC'S and the Z06, were the nicest lines of any car ever designed. To me a virtual ROLLING ORGASM.
