90%? Most of that 90% must be under the body. So is the "fresh" 10% just the exterior?
My wife loves the look of our C5Z06 but neither of us have been huge fans of the C6 look. Regardless, I just bought an '07 because the C6's are one Hell of a car and I got a Hell of a deal on it. I wouldn't call 'em ugly but I think the C6 looks are a step toward Euroweenieism (my term, feel free to use it)
Yet despite my own opinion about C6 looks, one thing I have found about driving a Corvette.
It doesn't matter what *I* think of the looks. It's what OTHERS think about it (and most are in awe anyway)
My C6 was a quality control disaster. GM bought it back and I'm glad to be back in a C5. Not bashing the C6. Lots of people have had good luck with them. It is faster but I am not the only who has had a problem with battery rundown in as little as 2 days of sitting. Never had that problem with either C5 I have owned. In my opinion the C6 is way too much hocus pocus. Give me a key to start the car and a door handle to open it.
You know I agree. I actually hate the push button start on my C6. It's a stupid idea and the fob is always searching for signal thus making battery life very short. I don't mind turning a key but I don't like having to worry about the battery dying if the car sits a few days. If the aftermarket ever created a new ignition with a key for the C6 I would actually buy one.

You have something wrong then. The FOB is NOT "always searching for a signal". In fact, it only transmits when the car interrogates it. And the car doesn't interrogate the FOB until some action occurs (grabbing the door release, etc).
Having driven a 2006 MN6 C6 convertible on a test track, I felt it drove very similar to my 2001 C5 Z51 coupe. No doubt the C6 is more refined, but the additional time has allowed GM to perform additional VE (value engineering)... VE is never good in my opinion.
The C5 is hands down a better looking car. The C6 is newer, but as they both age (and the C6 has already into it's 5th model year), the C6 styling is not timeless like the C5 (just my opinion).
I wish I had the money to keep my C5 as my garage queen and add a C6 to the fleet to beat the crap out of on a track... as I consider the C6 disposable but the C5 is a keeper.
All things considered....IMHO Looks to me like the c5 is destined to be the c2 of tomorrow.
Talk about a difference I have areally nice driving 66 roadster and an 04 roadster...going from one to the other...now there is a difference
LOL

Then why can the C6 only sit for a week of so untill the battery dies? My C5 Z06 was able to sit under a car cover for the whole winter and would fire right up in the spring. Don't get me wrong, I am not arguing with you but I hear quite frequently that the C6's cannot sit for very long without a battery tender and the blame usually is on the fob and the push buton start.

You might want to do a search in the C6 section of the forum. It is not normal behavior for a C6 despite the mythology that seems to have evolved.
Just curious... as C6 owners, do you get a LOT of compliments like the C5 owners do? I swear I can't take the car out without people staring or saying something. Just wondering if it's the same with the C6's.

I've received OOOHS and AHHHS in both the C5 and C6.

Interesting, to be honest It has not happen yet to me. I was just going off what other people had said and trying to avoid this happening to me. I actually planned on buying a battery tender next week for the C6.
If you've never driven a new C6, you should take one for a test drive. The way the economy is, the dealers will beg you to hold onto it for the whole day test drive. Personally, I don't like the numb feel of the C6 steering. The 08-09's have more road response but when you drive a C5, you really feel in touch with the road. I really dislike the front fascia of the C6 as well, it never grew on me over the years either.
As far as HP is concerned, the new LS3 is a beast, you need a head and cammed C5 to be able to keep up with a stock C6. 436 HP and you get an engine that is smooth, refined, yet with a mild to wild exhaust mod, you can really get a great sounding ride. For the HP alone, I think the new 08-09's are "better" than the C5's.
Don't leave out the c5zo6,, They will run with the 436 hp Ls3 (12.4@116mph for both)

So true.
But FWIW, I'm not a part of the "my kids better looking than your kid" debate. I read what you wrote about a great car and a great deal... All I can say is, smart move... dollar wise

Thanks! We now have a C4, C5 and C6. We're planning on selling the C4 come spring but fellow club members say we should hold onto it and buy a C1, C2 and C3 for a complete set!

All the time, in fact the C6 has nearly caused accidents with other drivers starring at my car...only to nearly rearend the car in front of them. Must be the yellow color

It's not mythology. I experienced it first hand. I also used to be a frequent contributor in the C6 forum. We even had a name for it: DBS or Dead Battery Syndrome. It's not as bad after the 05 cars but it's still problematic.
A Corvette dealer who I know personally told me that he keeps the C6's on the side of the showroom because the batteries run down and they get in the way of the C5's. The cars simply have too much going on when they are turned off.
When I was going through my C6 problems I would routinely visit the dealers. If I got there early enough I would watch their morning routine: Jump starting C6's.
