Default Balky headlight

Checked existing threads for my problem but have not seen exact duplication of situation on my '99 red roadster
Right side headlight does not raise at all times. I can turn off the headlamp switch, rotate the manual lift **** a quarter turn or so and it then raises fine via the motor.
When closing however the operation appears normal but when fully closed the motor continues to run for about 4~6 sec making a rather noisy rat-a-tat-tat sound.
As the mechanism does raise/close via the motor it does not seem to reflect the typical gear replacement problem and suspect a switch orientation/positive stop situation.
There are far more knowledgable folks on this type of problem than I however and thought I'd search for a few clues and/or solutions.
Any ideas are appreciated. Thx.......

The gears are stripping in your motor. Read the sticky at the top of the C5 tech page, and you'll find your fix. Easy repair.

Thx for the clues.
As a new member it takes a bit of time to learn how to negotiate the forum. Wound my way thru the sticky as suggested and discovered very concise repair suggestions - complete with sound effects to verify the problem. Will order parts today - know what I'll be doing Saturday
