I say it's your car and your money. I think lambo doors are cool - period. It just amazes me that there are fools out there who think they have the right to dictate what you do (or don't do) to your own car. I've tinted my windows, swapped out all lights for LEDs, wired in an adapter for my iPod, added homelink, added heated seats, bought GY EMT M&S tires mounted on wagon wheels so I can drive it in the winter, etc. None of these changes makes the car faster or stop quicker - I did them because I thought they were neat, and it endears the car to me that much more.
So I say screw the self righteous bastards and do what you want with your car. And above all else, have fun with it.
I agree. You're paying for the car so do what you want with it. To many closed minded people on here so I wouldn't ask about anything other than technical things. If people can get looked down on for putting black rims on their car then don't expect them to like much. Everyone has their own opinion.
Personally, I went for speed, then shifter and now I think seats and a roll cage will be a good step up...better fire suppression is up there though...
On a relatively stock (non-track) car, a fire system and a cage is as much a cosmetic poser mod as the Lambo doors. Not many Vettes spontaneously catching fire down the highway.
To each his own but if someone offered to install Lambo style doors on my car for free I would say no thanks. Lambo doors on a Lambo are neat but not nearly as neat as the Mercedes gull wing doors.
What is the price for those? I would say a nice set of rims and lowering your z06 makes it stand out more then just doors. I have always been a fan of sucide doors on certain cars but does anyone even have them on a vette. Anyone?
Vette Magazine, March 2009,Volume 33, NO 3, Page 42, has a huge article about a guy, (Ken Woodcock), who has spent a mint on mods. One of them was the Lambo doors. The Car looked great until I turned the page and saw the doors. Why ruin something that comes perfect already? Check out the article, see what you think.

While I would agree they make a statement and if you like them or not is personal preference.
However, my cousin installed a set of these on his 350Z and he hates them. They actually make it harder to get out as the out and up motion is awkward and the door is kind of heavy. The opening also seemed smaller to me as you sort of had to duck under it as it didn't go all the way forward and I am only 5'6! Also shutting the door is not intuitive and if you shut it too fast t bangs, if you do it too slow it doesn't catch right- his door jamb and the place on the rear quarter panel where the door opening starts has had the paint worn off and if I remember correctly it was also flaking at the front of the door/front quarter panel junction. He had them installed professionally by a body shop and he did not spare any money on cheapo hinges. I almost forgot he had all sorts of stereo, power window/door lock issues as well as it put stress on the through door wiring.
If you want to show the car and have that extra little bling to set your car apart go with it if that's your bag- but....
If you want to actually use the car and ease entry I say pass. Further I question their crash worthiness...
I worked on a Vette that had them.I think they look pretty good for a show car(which his was) but they just plain---sucked.You had to very, very carefull shutting them or you crush the door around the latch and scratch the hell out of everything.Very poor designing.
it's your car do whatever makes you happy. most do it for show. i did it on my c4 only for show. sterling acc is a good kit. i know plenty of my buddies use the kit on c5s with no problem. i prefer not to do it on my c5 bcoz its a zo6, there is a reason why chevy did not put a removable roof on it......just my 2 cents....
for 2 grand you can do a cam swap an be happy......

While I think this is a very "poseurish" mod, at the end of the day it's your car and you can do what you want with it.
But I think this picture sums up the mod perfectly:
Excelent post Jameel, I think you nailed it. Played out poseur mod. Now I think I'll go start a thread asking which spinner wheels would look best on my Z06.
