Default c5 vs. c6

I have heard that the new corvette is the best yet. but i have my doubts. my c5 is just slightly upgraded and seems to perform better than the new high dollar c6 at a third the price

Hi there, i don't know but if you get a chance to drive a new C6 that might be the best way to make an accurate comparison. My C5 is slightly modded (CAI, tune, Borla Stingers) and the acceleration didn't feel quite as strong as the C6 auto i drove last month.

Don't get me wrong im really attached to my car, love the way it looks and the MSG color. It would take a lot for me to "trade up" to a C6. But the LS3 performs like a ****. I want to add too that the C6 looks have definitely grown on me too.

Enjoy your C5 its a sweet looking ride

your right, i havent driven one yet. i would love to. i have ridden in the c6 zo6 and was surprised how rough it was compared to my modded stock c5. but i expected a zo6 to outperform my car with the extra couple hundred hp haha.

thanks. you have a great lookin machine as well

Every latest model, no matter what manufacture will claim the latest and the greatest.

thank you

my coworker has a new cyber gray zo6 and ive ridden in it a few times, it has a different feel to it then the C5 cars. He has gotten on the gas a bit but never completely buried the pedal through the gears so its hard for me to tell as a passanger. Riding with him i have tried to make comparisons to my car but really i know he has a lot more power so its probably a useless comparison

I think its different riding in a car than actually driving one, for comparison, if you know what i mean.

I will say this, when i drive the vette to work its cool to look out in the parking lot and see the C5 body style MSG parked next to a C6 in Cyber Gray.

does the new engine really surpass the LS1 by that much? i know the new engine comes stock with 430+hp stock but with 3000$ you can turn your ls1 into a beast

Opinion aside, the C6 is a better car than the C5. it has a lot of improvements in many areas, and with the current state GM is in as well as the economy in general, you can find them for really low prices.

Having said all that, I personally prefer the C5 :-) I just like the car better (looks etc.) and (to all our chagrine here) it is even lower priced than the C6 for the above stated reasons.

The difference in performance and capability between the C5 and the C6 does not (in my opinion) offset the difference in their prices right now. In other words the C6 is a better car, and both are discounted, but the performance you get in a nice C5 is way way above the price you will pay for it and the increase in performance and capability going to a C6 may not be worth the extra money (if money is a question).

When/if I ever sell this car (and I dont plan to, it does exactly what I want it to do) It will be replaced by a C6 (or whatever I can afford at the time if they make another model) for the upgraded technology.

That is unless the entire world falls apart and for someunknown reason I financialy survive, in that case I might consider replacing it with a Lamborghini Murcilago but I dont have a high degree of confidence in that turn of events . . .
