Corner Light Installation Question

I don't have a mechanic's garage or tools so can I access the lights through the hood or do I need to get underneath the car?
Thanks!

You will have to lay on the ground to do it, and it would be easier if you raised the car a bit. Either regular car ramps (that the vette can drive up on, search for posts on how to do this) or in a pinch you could drive one side up on a curb. You only need a little bit of hieght to get under the front to remove the screws.
Stick your head under there and look. There are a few (maybe 3 or 4)screws (possibly 10mm if Im rebmembering it right) holding the access panel on. Once you remove the three aft ones, you should be able to pull the panel down (wont need to take it off completely) and get your arm in there. Once you get to the back of the light housing, its easy to remove the sockets (just twist) and the housing is only held in by a spring, which you can reach and pull off. Housing comes out.
Now would be a good time to swap the bulbs if you are changing to leds, you can do it from underneath, but you can also reach in the brake duct (the small duct under the headlight viewed from the front of the car) and push the accordian duct back. You then can pull the sockets with the bulbs out the brake duct to change them easily.
Maybe two or four additional screws on the housing to pull the lense off.
Swap lense. put it back into position from under the car. Attach spring.
Twist sockets onto housing. Check lights. Reattach panel under car.
Done.

20 or so minutes each side.
If you just want to replace the bulbs you can get access through the air vents below the corner lights.

If you want them to flash slower (the normal way), you can add the flasher bypass (think thats what they call it), its a simple plug and play unit that plugs in under the dash. You remove four screws and drop the panel under the steering wheel, plug it in to the jack thats already there, and reattach the panel. Six minutes if you are eating a sandwich while you do it. Also if you later switch to read LED tail lights the falsher bypass makes them signal properly aslo.
The "Switch Back" LED towers are kinda cool :-) I like the white light they show as running lights and the LED's switch to amber when you hit the turn signal.
Lemme see if I can find the link
