Are you talking about the car battery, or the FOB battery.

Typicality changing the car battery doesn't require it, but a new FOB battery may require holding the lock & unlock buttons on the remote simultaneously to reprogram it.

Good luck... GUSTO

Default 99 fob

Need help here-hubs' 99 got new battery and new batteries in fobs. followed manual to reset fobs, all went well. BUT, upon exiting vehicle, car locked and unlocked itself, then locked , then armed. Yikes. Passive entry is Off on fobs, checked options and passsive lock is off. what the heck? Should I just remove batteries from fobs and go back to "el manual" lock /unlock? Creepy.

Mine did that a couple of times after changing the batteries. All I did was to cycle the passive switch on the fobs a couple of times, reset the memory and it seemed to work.
