when i started my car..it beeped 3 times. anyone know what this means? if you look at the gauges right next to the 200mph lit up. im guessing has to do with an air bag or seat belt? this is the first time it has happen.

The top indicator is the airbag light. Maybe it was slow to complete its start up check? I guess it would give an audio warning if it failed to check as serviceable

I'd check to see if it threw a DIC code. Either way I'd leave it and see what happens. If the lights out theres no problem. Random electrical gremlins are common with the C5

I really, really, really feel bad for the original owner only putting 4800 miles on a 99'. Assuming he took approximately a $15K hit on the sale/trade, that's $3.12 per mile!

3beeps is a good thing be glad you didn't get 4 or5 beeps that's a bad thing

 

Your car has a full blown code display built into it. A code reader isn't needed because the car will tell you itself what's going on. I'm surprised that you didn't know this but that's cool. Everyone needs to know about it.

Push and hold the DIC Fuel button and then touch the Options button like 4 or 5 times within 5 seconds or so. From there, you will see it display the codes as it cycles through the various computers. You can use the other buttons to manually go through them. If you stop on a particular code, you can also clear it by touching the Reset button. I suggest you write down all the codes that you might find first before clearing any of them. There are numerous resources that will allow you to find out what each code means and please, post them in here so we may better assist you. Have fun! BTW, the E/M button will exit the code display and yes, you can even do this while you are rolling down the road.

But of course, you shouldn't. As pushing the buttons, reading, writing down the codes and driving isn't the best way to drive a vette.

But of course, we all knew that already.

 

Dont worry if you see hundreds of codes. H means the fault cleared. Its only C codes that are still a problem. That said, you had a transitory problem so it will have cleared by now. Clear them out once you've noted them down. If they dont reoccur the problems gone and its for info only. My guess is you'll see some "U" codes tagged with an H. They are often caused by power glitches

Corvette Codes

To list your codes, turn the ignition key to the ON position, but don't start the engine. Clear any present DIC messages (like Door Ajar, or Service Steering Column) by pressing the RESET button. Then hold the OPTIONS button down, while pressing the FUEL button 4 times. This will get you into the CODES section of the DIC.
The computer will automatically display all the codes your car is or has created. It will cycle through each code every 3 seconds. You can watch it display codes for every module in your car. If you want to write them down, go ahead. Any code that ends in H is a history code - something that has occurred in the past but is fine now. The computer is very sensitive and would throw a code if you turned the radio off while tuning it.
Once the computer has finished going through all of it's automatic codes, press RESET to enter Manual Configuration. It should start with a module and show "NO CODES" or "# CODES". If it shows a number of codes, press and hold RESET until it displays "NO CODES". This is how you reset your codes.
