Everything I've seen posted here says the tunnel plate works very well to stiffen up the car. Plus if ceramic coated it can reduce heat transfer into the cabin area.
I insulated the tunnel before adding the tunnel plate. This made a huge difference on the inside of the car. I bought the 3/8 inch plate and added the insulation myself.
It got pretty hot in the cabin after installing headers. I should have put the ceramic tunnel plate on when the exhaust was changed (some of us are slow learners). Put the tunnel plate on and instantly felt the temperature difference.
interesting thread i've thought about getting one but didn't think it really made a difference. Could probably make your own if you can get a peice of aluminum like that and use the old one as a template? i should talk to TPiS about getting a sheet of that material where do you guys get the insulation for the tunnel? also is there any noise reduction?
