There is a local guy and a member on here who cut his C6 Z up and reinforced the frame and put in a targa. Looks very nice
Unless this guy is a chassis engineer, i wouldnt trust it. Most of that frame is aluminum. From my experience aluminum and cyclic fatigue dont go well together...millions of calculations were made to make sure that thing can handle the forces...adding reinforcement means they are hoping the forces are now being transfered through the reinforcements instead of somewhere else...again, i wouldnt trust it. Chassis engineering is incredibly complex.

Consider a C6 coupe, put the money saved for mods. The best of both worlds, unless you need the status of the Z.
I would never give up the targa top. I read an article recently comparing the ZR1, Z06 and Coupe and the outcome was ZR1, Coupe then the Z06 in that order. Remember, that the new coupe puts out about 430 hp.
I went on 2 deployments with the Navy... the first ended with a set of CCWs and the second with Caravaggio seats. It's nice to get back, look at that bank account and go WOW! It's amazing how much money you save when you are tax free/hazardous duty in a place where you don't spend a dime! Good luck and be safe!
I'm not sure exactly where in afghanistan i am going yet. Definietly cant beat the money though. LOL. I have been running several scenarios through my head on what i want to do. I am thinking, keep my c5 and mod the hell out of it, buy a new c6 3lt z51, or go with the C6Z. Not a bad predicament to be in. As for cutting the roof off the Z, i would have to wait and see how some of these guys Z's are holding up with no roof before i did something crazy like that...Also it seems that that might void any warranty that as left?....
