Here's a good site if anyone's interested. Shows you there are a lot of radars and lasers out there and nothing covers them all. Don't know if the Cobra is even rated, but it gives you the best of the best in their tests. There are a few states where they are illegal i guess. The tests are a little more reliable than the marketing claims of all the manufacturers. And if it's not tested here it's probably not much good. http://www.radarbusters.com/howwetestarticle.cfm

With a handle like that it's probably better than a detector if you get stopped by a Leo. Very cute
At least you didn't get caught switching lanes without using your blinker in Va.... $1,000 fine if caught. Im from Virginia Beach VA and there are some jacked up laws..
man i've worked in the VA area over the two years for a grand total of about 4.5-5 months combined and not ONE problem with the LEO's there. I've driven my Z28 there, my blazer and my truck and no problems at all working out there. Most of my work has been in the Virginia Beach area

Holy Sheet $1000. for that? I got stopped for "Improper lane change" here in Florida and it was only $142. I tried the Of course I didn't use my turn signal, didn't you see my arm signal trick but she didn't buy it. That used to work in Texas.
I bet if you were a Virginia resident, he would have kept the detector.
Now think about that statement for a second. It sorta makes sense to think the LEO might confiscate the radar unit, but why would he do that? If LEO grabbed it, I'm sure he would have to fill out extra paperwork and then he'd have to store the unit (more paperwork) and eventually dispose of it (more paperwork).
On the other hand, LEO just grabbed a quick and easy $100 for his police retirement fund (that's the REAL priority here). Plus, he lets you keep the radar detector and that means he has good chance of snagging OP again for ANOTHER easy $100. If I was LEO, I'd love writing those tickets and I'd NEVER confiscate a detector. I'd just keep on writing $100 tickets to same guy as much as I could.....
I can't remember where, but years ago I read about a trucker who got stopped in VA IIRC with a detector. The cop told him about the stiff fine if he wrote him up etc, then demanded the detector. When the trucker handed it over, the cop placed it under the tire and said "Pull ahead a little". He then scooped up the pieces, handed them back to the trucker, and let him go, no ticket.
I got a letter from my lawyer that said that the prosecutor wants me to serve 30 days in the county jail the other day for passing the unmarked Trailblazer that had the Chief in it! I was going wayyy faster than i should ve...(around 160ish) Hindsight is 20/20!! Of course im fighting it but- I wish i could just donate $100 -Jason
seem to remember Georgia does not reciprocate traffic tickets with other states as long as they are paid. Same holds true for driving in GA-pay the ticket and it stays in GA.
Same is true for the Commonwealth of Mass.
Damn, that sucks. I have got pulled over 3 times in Oklahoma, 5 miles away from Kansas on HW 83 or 54, for having my fog lights on, and it don't think it's fair.
I'm heading down Tulsa this weekend for a wedding. Any other dumb *** OK laws I need to know about?
