Default Oil Change......

I tried to do a search but did not find the exact answer. I'm wondering..... I changed my oil with synthetic about 2 months ago. I only drive about mabey 3k miles a year on my vette. should I wait until I reach that 3k or 5k mileage before changing the oil or do it every 3 to 6 months?

Changing once you reach those 3k or 5k is enough in my opinion...Oil doesn't go bad that fast....Indy

You can't go wrong by following the oil life monitor and waiting until it counts down to zero, it's there for a reason, so there is no need to do it sooner.

Do it when your oil life monitor says to do it or if you don't drive that much, once per year will be fine. I only put about 2500-3000 miles a year on mine when I had it and changed oil once per year.

Same here. I change it in the Spring regardless of the miles driven...which are usually less than 3,000.

Default Good question and good answers

I am actually in the same situation. Looks like many of us are. I think that it is interesting that there seem to be guys on both sides of the isle here. I lean towards the once a year whether I have reached the 3K point or not. By the way, Manuel does work at Jiffy Lube...or so I have been told.

Once a year for me as well, and is always < 5K miles.
You do not have to use Mobil-1 by the way, any synthetic with the GM spec 4094M will be fine. Pennzoil Platinum, Castrol Syntec, and Valvoline Synpower will all do fine

It's your car and your money. Change the oil when you want.

GM put the DIC in there for a reason (many actually) so just follow that and you'll be fine. I change mine about every 3k or once a year. I typicall put about 7 or 8k miles a year on mine.

I believe the manual says once per year for cars that sit most of their lives.
