Sorry for your loss but as you know C5 owners are very caring folks and well continue to pray that someday you'll figure out what is important in life, things like Corvette ownership. It's an honor and a previledge, one that requires a sense of artistic appreciation of timeless beauty along with the maturity to understand what you already have.
Your x Ferrari Red Vette AKA Torch Red is still a much better American feel good than any BMW could ever be.
Come on back when finally figure things out.
Proud Everything American
1- what loss? i sold it by will, not by force.
2- corvette ownership is something important in life? lol, now ive heard everything
3- it IS a honor and prviledge to have a vette, i agree!
4- american feel good? what is that? ive always thought american cars are pieces of ****, except for the vette and the viper.
i think 99.5% of you are misunderstanding what i did..
i sold the C5 i order to purchase a CTS-V.. that way I can have a Corvette (the engine) and the ability/room to carry people in the car.
my vette sold rather quickly, and I hadnt found a CTSV yet.. and I dont have the time to look around, so this M3 fell into my hands.
the M3 is an awesome car. Both the M3 and the C5 are cars people wish they had. Im lucky to have had both. It is a honor.
as far as my remarks on handeling/performance/quality, that is my opinion. The M3 is considered by many as the "German Corvette"
Ive never been a fan of American cars (yet Ive managed to have 2) and Im not a muscle car guy by an means. I just enjoy pure performance cars that drive great and look great.
As far as handling, I ran into a C6 today.. I asked him how he likes it and what not.. then asked about handling.. i quote "yea hands down, the M3 has better handling over the C5 and C6.. its phenominal" . this was coming from a guy with a nicely modified Corvette
anyway, maybe this cleared up some things (aka: i didnt sell the C5 to go buy an M3; not saying one is better than the other; etc).. or maybe it didnt clear it up.. i dont know, nor does it matter.
This is my 8th car in 4 years, so to me a car is a car, im too overly obssessed with owning nice powerful machines.. so hopefully Ill be back with a C6 in a year at the most!
I would like to say that your BMW is a SWEET ride. I was stationed in Germany until Jan of 2008. I have a 2000 coupe 6-speed. I ate these things (m3s) up on the autobaun. One day at the 1/4 track at Bitburg, a guy came up to me and TOLD that his 2002 M3 could take me. I really did not want to race, but I did. He got me off the line then I easily waxed him once I got some traction. You should have seen the look on his face as I blew by him. Your car is in a different class, not better.
After seeing you continually talk about how you think a corvette is "just another car" frankly I don't think most of us are going to be all that sad to see you go, nor will most of us want you back. I know that sounds prickish, but when a 22 year old "car guy" trashes an American icon he's going to get flamed. You don't like American cars? Stick with your kraut mobile then. I have a few friends with M3's and I'm not overly impressed. The performance isn't any better then the c5's, they don't turn nearly as many heads, and they are NOT as fast. While the interior is slightly nicer, well, all I can say is if i wanted big comfy leather seats I'd be sitting in my living room! Good luck finding a forum as informative as this one for bimmers, as from what I've seen most (not all) of the owners or BMW's couldn't find the dipstick, let alone tell you how to troubleshoot the problems you WILL have like the guys on here.
Well, Too each their own as they say.
That was a Very Nice 98. But as far a Beemers go, I just don't like them much.
A few times over the years we have looked a them and Benzes. Very nice automobiles, but they didn't float my boat. Always passed on them and bought American.
I always have been and always will be a GM/ Chevy guy.
And with todays economy I will make my $ here, and spend it on vehicles made hear
You could at least have posted a pic of the CTS-V that you replaced the Vette with.

What it comes down to is you have to be happy and it sound like you found enough flaws in the C5 to be disappointed. Hope the BMW fits your needs. But, as mentioned above, hope you got a warranty with the BMW - if not, wait until you have to have some work done to it.
Sorry to see you got rid of the Vette, but enjoy the M3. I have found no matter what you do in life, there will always be haters. I used to want a BMW until I drove the C5. It is still a nice car have fun with it and be safe!

Guys, guys, let him go!!!!
Remember the first time you sat in your vette? Remember "that feeling"? The one that never goes away? He didn't get "that feeling". He never will. Let him go find another car that give it to him. When he does he'll understand, even if it is a BMW.
Good Luck FRV, I hope you find the one that isn't "just another car"..
Nice looking vette.... Sorry for your loss! Grab you a$$ when its time for repairs on the BMW... BiG MISTAKE IN MY OPINION...But if your happy that's all the matters .....Don't bother waving!!!
BMW's are great cars but owning a Vette is more than 0-60 times. It's Americana! Classic American V8 muscle. Can't really compare them. Besides the Vette community including this forum is way better than anything you find on the BMW community. Owning my Vette for the last 4 years is a blast and I have met tons of cool nice people along the way. Should have gotten one years ago. Also good luck getting repairs done when needed $$$$ Anyway, enjoy your BMW, you made someone else the happy owner of a good looking vette
