Why does everyone have their panties in a bundle? My brother owns an m3 and its almost as fast as a C5, just a tiny little bit slower. If running the absolute fasted qt mile is important to him then yes he made a mistake, but to own something that doesn't stir you're soul is a bigger one. For him it looks like the m3 was the car for him, not the vette. For my brother it was the same thing but not for me and my dad 
. Good choice frv I think the e46 m3 is one of the best looking sport coupes ever made and the interior is light years ahead of a c5.

I hate to think what the responses would have been if he HAD gotten the CTS-V he was looking for in the first place! Would he continue to be the heel or would he be a hero??

I'm fortunate enough to own a Corvette and a Mercedes Benz E 350. Vette for me and the Benz for the family... okay, for me also, but the family enjoys it too!!
FRV, continue to live your life and enjoy the experiences of ownership of as many different types of cars there are out there! I only wish I were as fortunate in life to have such choices!
I met an older gentleman last week at work who said to me, "I've always wanted to own a Vette... they're my FAVORITE cars!" To those who think "it's not LUCK that got me this car..." you don't realize how lucky you are! Ignorance is bliss, I guess...

Let me start by saying, "I love my Corvette", but it is not because of its handling, it is the V8 abd its sound. 
If you think that a standard Corvette is better on a track, than a standard BMW M3, you are wrong, sorry.

I had a 2004 white M3 SMG and it ran 13.7 in a 1/4 miles consistantly, my stock 02 C5 coupe ran 13.2's...no way the m3 is faster stock for stock.To OP there is no reason to try and defend what you did. It was your vette and your decision to make. You wanted something different and you got it. Although it isn't something that I would do it was not my vette.
But I will bet that when you are driving your BMW and a C5 goes by you are going to wish you still had yours. Good luck with your new car!

I agree you had a turd then. I don't believe that your Beamer is a 4.5 car.
In any case as long as you like it that is all that is important. I personally really liked the look of your C5 better. I am not prejudice as I have a '05 Beamer that I get to drive when I feel the need. Ours is ALOT smoother then my Vette as far as ride. Good luck and enjoy

Vette and a M3 is a close call sports cars.They both r nice and they both have ups and downs depends on people`s choices. Yours was M3 that is normal. M3 is a really nice car. I all the time thought getting one as a second car. I ve driven one as well pretty quick and responsive and yes very good quality inrerrior. But still the sound of mine and the timeless slick look of C5 is what I like the most. Good luck with the new car and enjoy.
