What is the widest width rear tire replacement I can use without encountering problems, ie; rubbing, extreme extension outside the fender well opeinings? Thanks in advance for information.

315 is the widest I've done, but that's on race tires...you'd have a hard time cramming a 315 street tire on the wheel, but it does fit under the car.

18x305

315 would be too tight

335 will rub and stick out

i currently have 335's on mine. it did rub but i just removed the air bridge thing.... the one that allows air to get to the rear pads. i really love the look of a 335 on my z. when i had 315's it would only rub when the car would twist like when i would go in my drive way.

I run 335 on an 18x12 CCW wheel. They rub just a bit on the inner fender. They stick out quite a ways.

On a stock 10.5 rim? IMO, a 305 would be the widest.

I was referring to HECTOR99. I sure hope he's not runnig 335's on a 10.5" wheel. It would look terrible.

FWIW I'm running Stock Z wheels widened to 12" with a mini tub and 335's. LOVE THE TRACTION!

Hi speedyhawk101,

Can you provide more info please on your modification?

I intend to stay 18" with the OEM ZO6 rear wheel widened to 12"...then minitub...

Is the diameter noticable smaller when mounted on the car???

Do you have pictures?

How is the process of widening?

What are the downside of this mod?

What tire are you running?

Thanks in advance
Christian

Sir,

I have already a file pretty complete on the subject...and I share with the members here my experiences (ref e.g. my Threads).
Be sure that the search button is a "tool" I deeply recommend to every one new here around.

A file is never too much updated and all piece of information is precious to avoid mistakes.
I am sure you will contribute to educate me on this item and your knowledge about how to weld the aluminium barrels is welcome.

Putting 335's on the stock rim offers no increased contact patch vs a 305.

I'm running a 305 on a 11.5 width wheel and they just barely stick out past the fender. I haven't had any rubbing issues though. The tire is a Nitto INVO.
