Default Fender Flares?

Can I see some pics of ur (smaller) flares. The larger flares don't look right to me, even with the rock guards added. They don't blend in very well with the rear facia. Pretty much a huge flare at the top, then nothing. The rear end really needs to be part of the design to look right when the flares are that large. So it's either that or go with a smaller flare that won't look so obvious. Perhaps just enough for 335's to look like they belong there?

You're best bet would be to tub the car. I went with a wide body kit which is very expensive. If I had it to do over again, for a street driven car I would do the tubs in the rear.

The widebody kit from MSI seems like it meets your description for what you want. Very nice looking flares that blend in with the rest of the body IMO.

They have the same problem as all of the other kits out there, they don't cover the lower half of the wheel.

You'll end up san blasting the side of your car off.

It's almost done. Just need to drop off the headlights for paint and go over a few of the finishing details with "Carter" the body specialist up at ACP.

Hopefully, I will be going up tomorrow. Had planned on going this past Monday, but got hit by a snow storm.

Let's face it, it's more for looks anyway. I have the Z07 reproductions and I hate the fact that the tire doesn't match up with the top of the fender.

Hey neiborgh. I will do you one better.

I live NE of Raleigh, just outside Rolesville about a mile from Fantasy Lake Scuba quarry.

Give me a shout

I have the ACP 3/4" flair on my rear fenders.

my rear rims are 18x13: with Hoosier 18x335/30s. YES I use longer ARP studs and CCW 3/8" wheel spacer other wise the 13" rim will not fit.

My street set are 18x12" with Mich PS 18x335/30 and just make it under the fender.
Do they rub the inner wheel well liner? Not any more the inner wheel well line has been rubbed off and is gone.

High speed cornering tends to do this as the tire flexes

Tom

Actually there is some kind of clear spray used in racing ap=lications that can be sprayed on to stop the chipping, sand blasting.

I'm having it sprayed on to mine. It ain't cheap .

When I ever repaint my car, all the rocker panels will be flat black. So I can take a rattle can and do touch up.

You're lucky as flat black looks good on yellow, not on Navy Blue.

with the 3/4 flares do you have to do a new rear fascia as well?

No you dont. HOWEVER, the ACP flairs are really made for the ACP rear fascia, which is a better fit then the OEM rear fascia.

again guys most of these aftermarket body parts are NOT BOLT ON AN GO. There is a lot of prep work that needs to be done, before a test fit, primer and blend the paint.

The only reason i put mine on was a incident with a wall at Road Atlanta. Back in '05 the ACP fenders and and rear fascia were less expensive then the OEM fenders and rear fascia.

to give you guys an idea:

Fascia-Rear C5/A0011-FG $1,034.00
Fascia-Rear C5/A0011-CF $2,103.00
Fascia-Rear with 1" Spoiler C5/A0039-FG $1,126.00
Fender-Rear Left Flared C5/A0009-3/4"W-CF $963.00
Fender-Rear Left Flared C5/A0009-3/4"W-FG $422.00
Fender-Rear Right Flared C5/A0010-3/4"W-CF $963.00
Fender-Rear Right Flared C5/A0010-3/4"W-FG $422.00

FG = Fiber glass
CF = Carbon Fiber

Yes, you're talking about ArmorCoat. I really like the idea of this but like you say, it's expensive.

I think 3M clear bra is the best of all worlds. You can still see it a little, but it's cheap (especially for me) and if it ever gets swirl in it that can't be buffed out, or surface imperfections, just peel it off and start over.

I'd like to Armorcoat the front of the car though because I don't like the clear bra line on the hood. I like it for the rear quarters though because you can hide the cut in the Clear bra in the body seam.

I figure that since my paint is fresh, it would be the best way to go and no maintenance is needed.

I won't be driving the car that much anyway, except for a couple longer trips each year.

I still have a long way to go with this project but I see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks,

It will be awhile before I actually drive the car out on the street. I still have so much to do before it will be done.

Sometimes I wish I bought one already modded like you, it would have saved me tons of time and cash.

Yeah, but even though it's done, I can't claim the pride it took to get it there, but give credit where credit is due. (see sig)

OT, but I'm typing this post on break from finishing my utlra-man-cave-basement....Something I am doing and taking a lot of pride in. So feel good about it!
