My personal feeling is that I'm not a big fan of the C4 styling, and never was. I loved the look of the C3 Stingray, and it's the reason that I own a C5 today. If the C5 would have continued the styling elements of the C4, then I wouldn't have bought a C5, and definitely wouldn't have it as a daily driver. I probably would have looked at a C3 Stingray as a project/hobby weekend driver car instead.

However that being said, I feel greatly indebted to the C4 generation owners for continuing the corvette trend. If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have a C5 or C6. So I definitely wave, and admire the C4 from a technological step, and for continuing the corvette tradition we all know and love.

Good post. As you can see, most of the members here are not C4 "haters" but it is just natural for people to make comparisons between the different generations.

My first Vett was a 60', many years ago and boy was it fun. Would i buy one again, probably would if I could afford it! Anyway, years later I wanted to get another vett and see if they were as much fun as i remembered. So, in 2005 I bought a C4. It was a 90' vert, and they are, it got me hooked again, and IMO the C4 brought back the vette look i remembered and liked.

I hope you are enjoying your C4, I did. My C5 does have some features, like the trunk in a vert, which has made it much easier for me to travel.

To me, my C4 was a great looking vett too. Would like to have kept it. Sadly, the fellow that bought it called me this winter and said it got totaled by a roof cave in from the snow.
Here's to the memories, it had the real muscle sound most C5's are looking for.

I like all gens of Corvettes! Hey without the C4 the C5 wouldn't be here. Personally my favorite Gen is the C2

I owned a 1993 black and tan and I loved it . wish I still had it. I guess some c5 owners do look down on the c4 but thats prob because they never owned a c4. Also so peps are just mean . I say to al the c4 owners.

I had a '94 C4 I bought in 2003 from a 72 yr old guy a few states away. He was cool as hell, his girlfriend was 25. She wasn't much to look at but STILL...she was 25. He had owned every kind of sportscar you could own; but the C4 was his last. I kept the car for 2 seasons and then bought my 2001 C5. The C4 handled like a race car. The C5 is more comfortable and definitely handles road imperfections much better. Theres good reasons to like the C5 better than the C4, just like theirs reasons to like the C6. To me it's the technology advantage of the C6. Love my C5, but I bet after I drove the C6 for a month or two I'd like it better. For now I'll just keep modding the C5...it's too much fun.

Now that is one sweet garage!! Well said I might say.

I disagree with a couple posters who stated the C4 is nothing like the C3 styling. Put them side by side and I see a lot of similarities. And if each generation wasn't better in performance and styling it would be the end of the Corvette as we know it. It took detroit a while to deal with all the smog and HP requirements coming from washington but as Americans also do they persevered. So, I hope no one here takes any of this personal because there are C4 guys who trash the C5 as well. I think it is what we call human nature mixed in with envy. Please don't beat me up it is just my opinion.

I finally got to the point in my life that I could afford a used 2000 Vette with lots of miles (100K+).
I would love to own and drive any year model.
I wave at everyone.
Love what you drive and drive what you love. Life is too short to do less.
I am truly living the dream.

I don't see much hate here. I'm sure there is the odd one. They don't represent the majority though. I'm sure there is some C6ers ripping us C5s as we speak.

I too like ALL vets,,C4 is just my least favorite,,a fact that was confirmed when I helped a friend install headers, plugs and wires on his 96!! That ignition system and the under hood working space sucks!!! But his yellow and black C4 looks and sounds AWESOME now!! I did go from C3 to C5 though!! I wave to ALL corvettes period, No exceptions!!! If I see it I wave!!

To each his own, that is why we have so many generations of Corvette's. I will wave to any and all Corvette's, its not just about the looks of the car, but what the car represents in history.

I do have a confession to make here. Now is as good a time as any. Before I bought my Z06.............. I thought Vettes looked great, but we only unrefined GM crap. Sports cars yes, but something I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. I've own Hondas since '74. I poo poo'd anything domestic. Hard core Japanese product guy. Drove my Vortech Del Sol for 11 years. Yes sir, I thought I had it figured out. I paid off the mortgage on the house, and I decided to look for a Porsche. About ready to pull the trigger on a Boxster S................

Until someone told me to drive a Z, and they steered me towards the C5 model. Holy jeeebus!!! It was like a bolt of lightning hit me. I found an '03 Z06 with less than 10K miles (last October). Bought it.

<insert choir of angels sound here>

I have found the religion. I shall never again bad mouth a Corvette, nor foresake prior or upcoming models. I confess to you my brothers and sisters. I will not sin again.

I guess that will be ten Hail Z06's and two Our Corvettes. To gain true forgiveness, I am commanded to wave at all Vettes........regardless of vintage.

I wonder how much longer this thread can go on before it occurs to everyone that we're kicking the proverbial dead horse, and in reality, all is well in the Corvette world. i guess next week we'll have another 5 page save the wave thread.

I love them all. Had a C4 before I got the C5 and actually had both for about a year. My wife liked the C4 better then the C5 but I am the other way. I don't like the C4 digital dash that they came out with so I had the later model. I also wave to all Corvettes when I see them.

All is well in the Corvette world? Doubt that, when the parent company of Corvette may not be here within the next few months.

It was the C4 that inspired me to become a Corvette owner. I happened to land in a C5 which I am loving more than I thought I ever would. I intend to own a C4 one day as well!
