Came close to trading for a new 73 vette when I was 23, got cold feet when gas went from 37 to 50 cents and they lowered speed limit to 55. turn 60 next month, waited 35 yr to finally get one.

Tell me about it...People give me crap for owning three Corvettes (2 are C5s)...Hell, for what the dealerships offered me in trade-in value on them towards my SSR and C6Z I decided I'd keep 'em and let the tires rot off of em first!!!

I think that there are too many factors in each of our lives to get a real average. Just my 2 cents.
For me personally some more important things in my life were taken care of first, wife, 3 children, college for them, house.
At 47 I was finally able to own my first used Corvette. My finances would not allow me to own one before that.
I am happy for each person that gets to own and drive a Vette at any age.

I'm glad this thread has gotten the response it has after only a few hours! The ages vary greatly! I'll post up a mean average of all posters once more replies come in!

I bought my Corvette from Shannan L here off of the forum. I saved up money from the time I was 16 until I was 21. I finally had enough money stockpiled to own my dream car. I never had my own car until I bought my C5. I shared a 1999 V8 AWD Ford Explorer between 2 brothers my entire driving life. Going from that to 345HP stock vehicle has been a great experience. I never considered the power. I just knew what I liked. I've always loved vettes. It's quite the feeling to get so many compliments on a daily basis. My best compliment thus far was when I was driving down the interstate with the top off and a man in a truck got beside and with a smile and shot me the bird. I'll never forget it. Does this sort of thing happen to you?

I'm 21 and just got my 04 coupe last week. Technically my age was 21 years and 7 months or so. Does that help you?

I can say I'm paying on a home I will own one day. Does that count? No second car though.
