Default Tune after headers/long tubes?

friday morning the car (2004 ZO6 with the ECS 600 kit) is going to ECS to get 1 7/8" american racing long tubes with no cats installed, along with a twin text and a ECS differential brace. now im wondering if there is any aditional tuning needed other than turning off the o2 codes.

also what are the typical whp wtq gains with something like this? again im getting the AR 1 7/8" long tubes, 3"x3" no cats.

YES. To get the most out of headers and new CAI tuning is a must.

Lol, i see u have eCS SC kit too, why dont u ask doug or chris, u would be just fine without tune but iam sure ECS will give u some discount on street tune since they r installing headers and u r running thier ECS kit. GL. Thats nice size headers should be get another 20 ponies just by the tune.

asking chris right now. i think he said like $125 for some dyno pulls and $150 for any additional tuning. i dont want to go away running these untuned if god forbid they throw a lean spot in the tune or something.

You are.

a new Cold Air Intake system with your SC.

Get a good dyno tune so all these great pieces work at their best.

Bolt on and go, will not do your car justice.

ok not being a dick here but the kit comes with the intake that it comes with. no one said anything about a new CAI.

but yea i know, she is getting a road tune for sure, and if its rainy out, dyno tune. seeing how the dyno and real driving are different, i went with the road tune for sure.

a road tune is much differnt, with the right tunner.

three and two years ago I did a dyno tune. Then we did tuned the car for 2nd, and 3rd gear WOT accelerations.

took quite a while to work those out.

Once I was happy, with the tune for 2nd and 3rd gears to get maximum under the curve area and torque we went back to the normal dyno tune in 4th gear to make a comparison.

Lost about 30 rwhp from the normal dyno tune top end, but pick up 20 lbft of torque.

We also learned where the best shift points where, what was the best redline, 6500, 6600, 6800, 7000 or ?
Turns out the best redline was 6700 with the shift point right at 6500 for my set up.

So yes getting the right tune is vital to performance.

Good Luck and keep us updated
