I am going to start painting some underhood stuff and plan to start with the fuel rail covers... how do I get the driver's side off without damaging anything?
Searching the forum as well as owners manual has produced nothing. I just don't want to do any damage before I even start painting them.
The driver's side has the fuel line going through it and it doesn't look like I could just slip the rail over it without disconnecting it. I have an 04 so only one line in the way.
It will come off. The FRC is sliced all the way down so you can pull the FRC right off the fuel line. Just go give it a few tugs and you will see how easy it is to get them off.
Yes, this is the only way to remove them safely. I have removed mine a few times and each time I have put two layers of masking tape on each side. It is also a good idea to wrap the line with a thin layer of masking tape. This will smooth out the line tremendously. Mine are still perfect around the fuel line. Don't forget the most important thing...PATIENCE!!! good luck with your project.

Good advice,I just did mine and they turned out great.
Here's what I've done so far. I plan to paint the letters and stripes black and if they don't come out I'll just get the stickers to go over the paint.
