Z06 Blubyu,

Got any new feedback on the PS2's? I'm probably going to get this tire next. Thanks.

seems like the front tire is one not always available, you can go up to a 275 front with no problem. I disagree with comment on firestone wideovals, I have them and so do several people I know and they as I like them, good overall, cheap street tire, rain or shine. road surface plays big part in grip as does temp so is very hard to judge a tire vs another tire unless on same surface and same temp. I also liked my khumo mx before the current stones, I have over 45k on my 03Z.

if thats the case why wasnt the z06 designed with michelin tires or pirellis?

I mean millions of dollars were spent on designed to supercar tires for the z06 in those sizes, why go and mess it up with something other than that....

1. Because GM didn't want to spend the money for a Michelin design.
or
2. Michelin did not want to fit the Corvette with OE tires. Company image - not "special" enough to most people.

Because not all tire companies are created equal.

which is my point entirely, buying the most expensive things for the car isn't necesarilly the best thing. Different manufacturers have different ideas of whats best for what condition...i would never run michelins on my z because i have a dedicated set of rims for tracking and those have slicks, all i want from a street tire is to hold air and handle good in the rain, while being able to sustain speeds at over 100 mph.

If people disagree with me well then I have in my garage the original tire inflation machine from the corvette factory, and will gladly offer my services for $2,500 for all four...er wait i forgot more=better $2,500 / tire

Designers do spend a lot of time perfecting a given tire and tread compound to most sports type cars. If there is a spec tire sold for a car they can have everything from a different sidewall construction to a mixing of tread compounds, even different compounds as you go from inside to outside edge.

This is done to maximize the factory suspension, when you change suspension components you start all over with a new spec and installing tires can be a more personal choice. Granted that even though they design the tire for performance they still take into consideration the overall ride quality to.

I've been to a drag strip once (4 runs), done autocross 3 times (short course), and about 8 small burnouts... not even much smoke, more like a long peel out. So unless my alignment is WAY off or the light amount of "heavy usage" I've given them is too much, I don't see how people are getting 30K miles out of them unless they drive very lightly all the time.

I've never had an alignment done. The car has 53K miles now. Maybe it's time? lol
Get a 4 wheel alignment from a shop that specializes in Vettes - you have too much chamber in the rear I believe ???

yep, rears should be wearing evenly with a neutral alignment. you don't really need to look for 'vette only shop, but I would highly recommend finding our which shop road racers in your area use and doing your alignments there - it will cost more but the level of precision and attention to detail will be a lot higher compared to chain shops.

Default Michelin PS2

I got the Michelin PS2's last year and I am very satisfied with them. I've since put 7k miles on them and have driven them in both dry and wet conditions. I believe they are the best all-around tire and they seem to wear well also, about the same as the original Goodyear SC F1's...I will buy the PS2's again when it comes time.
