Default My First Vette

Hi All, I bought my first Corvette a few weeks ago, a 2004 Black Convertible. It is all stock and for the most part I want to keep it that way but some mods are acceptable. I am considering a new exhaust system and I like the look of the Z06 brakes...any recomendations? Any do's or don'ts from you Vette Vets out there? Any info is appreciated.

Congrats on the new ride and welcome. Exhaust is always a good place to start and you will get many opinions on what is best. Painting your calipers is easy and looks great. be careful though, once you start the mods it's crazy hard to stop! There are many here that can attest to that fact.

Post up some pics of the new ride when you get a chance.

Congrats on your new car! You'll need a performance intake and exhaust! That should keep you busy for a while.

Congrads on the new VetteThe Z06 brakes are the same as the C5, just a different color. As stated before, you can paint them or even have them powder coated. And don't forget the wave.

Congrats on the new ride!! You need to divulge more info to get more relavent info. What you do and don't like/want! There are air intake systems that run from simple an inexpensive,,to somewhat complicated and kind of pricey. Same for exhaust,,depending on auto or manual, exhaust is rather simple for install if you can get the car up. The prices, look and sound on the other hand is all over the place. Corsa is well noted for fairly nice sound and no drone on the highway. There are several that are kind of copies with similar characteristics. Borla,GHL and BB are a few that come to mind that start going up the "aggressive" scale and also have "level" choices as well as other manufacturer copies!! Best Idea is to go to the top of the page and use the search function and find other threads ,,there should be a ton of threads on both topics and you can get an idea what is out there. THEN you can get back on and ask some more specific questions!! You will always draw lots of opinions,,going to both extremes. Many like just a slight improvement,,,and lots like to roar and are willing to endure a noisy cabin on the road! I have a Blackwing filter and Corsa Touring exhaust. Once in a while I'd like a little more sound,,,,but then I take a little trip and appreciate the quiet cabin on the road.Any questions,,send me a P.M. and I'll try to help. Again WELCOME!!:ch eers:

Congrats! You might start with a few mods now, but once the mod bug bites, its hard to stop.

Don't buy Z06 brakes, just paint them yourself for $20

Congrats and welcome to the forum

Congrats! Z06 Ti's are a very nice exhaust upgrade, and since you have a vert, a Window Valet will make life a lot more enjoyable. I also reccomemd a proximity sensor to connect to the alarm, which is also nice for a vert. Have fun!!

Hey, thanks everyone, I appreciate the input...sounds like the exhaust system is the most popular...I am one for a moderate sound, aggressive but not to the extreme. My car is the 6 speed manual. As far as air intake...?? Someone also mentiond that I could change out my LS1 intake manifold for the LS7...advisable? Thanks everyone...

Oh, I forgot to ask...concerning the exhaust system, should I R2 the headers or keep the stock ones on?

If you want a fairly quiet idle and aggressive sound at WOT, I would suggest a Corsa Pace Car exhaust.

congrats on the ride

Headers will make it lound unless you keep the stock exhaust. i also suggest a new shifter as the stock one is like rowing a boat after a while
